Peoples General?
Whatever happened to this game. It was made by SSI like Panzer General but I have not seen any remakes or reboots of it. I really liked the concept and it had the same Panzer General Mechanics. Is it out there somewhere?

Was that the modern war one with East vs West? If so can't even find an old copy ie one that will play with W7 / w10 etc

Yes, it was. I am surprised no one picked it up and updated it. Made by SSi, came out after the success of Panzer General, was released in 1998

Yeah recently searched for it (places like Gog, and some "old game" conversion sites, can find PGs, Ag, etc but not this at all

It's an abandonware, just google "People's General abandonware".

It seems to have some issues running on W10 though but some people have managed to play it.
