Tips for 3rd mission Spanish civil war
Hello,

Struggling with the 3rd mission to complete all the bonus objective - anyone has a tips or 2?
i remove the tactical bomber to free some space in order to get an additional AA and tank but i struggle with the number of anti tank gun or the guardia civil.
Too slow pace and use a ton of prestige as i take too much casualties.

I can't remember that particular scenario and I don't have access to the the game at the moment.

But I've found that the usual answer to your type of question is,,,,,

ARTILLERY ! And lots of it!

As long as you set the Nationalists to attack and make sure to suppress Republican defences with your artillery this shouldn't be a problem. The western bonus objective is for you to solve alone, though -- the Nationalists won't go there.

This one is certainly a challenge!!

My best approach has been to try and get the Nationalist Allies to take Mereida as soon as possible. Once they're over the river there, they'll often take the Northern VP with minimal assistance.

You can then try to turn your full force to take the Western Objective.

Ah ok so you push center/north with the nationalist - try to catch it fast and then switch west with the full squad?
Did not think about it - i was going west directly almost.
Thanks :)

Yeah, the Nationalists just don't have the strength to take the centre VP without assistance, so you have to help them, but you also need your arty pieces to break through the well dug in forces in the West.

(and your tanks to protect you from you know who)

I must say I struggled with third mission. Quite sure that this was the single, hardest scenario I have done so far in PC2...
Actually, I remember one thing - if you divert too many forces to Badajoz, Nationalist forces will get slaughtered. If you do not buy enough ITA auxilla, they also will get slaughtered.
I have actually used a few Lancia 1ZM (which BTW Slitherine are misspelled as IZM) they are great support at 100 points each and being AUX, are completely expendable...
ASPIK Jul 17, 2020 @ 8:14am
I tried to push center with most of my strenght then go west for badajoz - left the italian alone to west and nationalist east but ill try to support more the nationalist east as suggested shards.

In my 3 attempts i was not able to get the city far north once and lost too much prestige anyway.

Will try as well with the lancia 1ZM then :)
I was keeping 2 infantery with a single tank/recon/artillery but i struggle to kill the guardia civil with that and lose too much time on the process - they keep refreshing their troops so it is a never ending process.

Will maybe add a third AA as well instead to have one of my tank overstrenght

Endless waves of enemy reinforcements is aggravating. I greatly miss the fun of clearing maps.

This mission is quite challenging if you want all secondaries.

Here is my attempt on Field Marshal.

I did it, but it was... Chaotic :steamhappy:

How much extra difficulty does Comandante Vega add to this scenario? Did all of you wipe out his unit?

For anyone struggling I recommend just chasing him off rather than trying to get enough firepower to deal with him definitively. One strong strafing/bombing run and he will scurry away instead of ripping great big chunks out of your ground units.

For those that did knock him out, do you think such a Nemesis unit should have more than 1 total 'life' in future campaigns? Or do you think putting him down once should be all it takes to remove it from all potential future appearances?

This is definitely hardest so far, managed it but only just taking NE town on last turn more by luck than design as was left to my allies as i had somehow completely missed this objective

Yep i checked your youtube video Green Knight but i am far to have your skills and i did not pick the traits you have.
Checking the negative traits you chose they make sense as you explained it and i will probably take the same on a second playthrough.
I am curious to see if you would be able to manage in generallissimus.

I'd like something to punch armor as i did not capture anything valuable so far.
i almost did it today but end up missing the secondary objective for probably one turn following shards advice.
I even captured Vega so i am bit pissed off :/
Will try again tomorrow.

@Kerensky bah if you capture/kill would not make much sense that it appears again but WW2 wise it could be as some of the heroes from the Wechmacht like Wittman participate in multiple theaters(Russia/France...) but it would need some proper explanation like the guy escaped ect..

Franz von Werra got shot down, escaped, and re-appeared to shoot down more planes (albeit on the eastern front).
I dont see why an exceptional character cant come back for another fight. But it'd have to be later in the campaign. Also it'd be subject to what i'd call a "escape roll" i.e. making a percentage chance to return.
So its by no means certain if you captured or killed him. You could even integrate it into the story for a later map (randomized d6 roll for x number of map to appear from the current one) with one of those popup boxes saying "Herr general, news has just arrived that vega has escaped from custody."
Naturally you'd need a script variable to keep track of vegas status whether at large (0), captured (1) or killed (2). So if vega_status=1 then check chance of escape this map (to appear later)
Just a thought...

I was lucky with Comandante Vega for he gave me a good chance to encircle him. After two rounds he surrendered with almost the complete starting strength. I don´t know if "NEMESIS" units actually come back later on? Until now I feared them too much and therefor anihilated every single NEM-UN I met in any of the scenarios, except in the Ebro battle. That battle was a tad too hard for me and there were plenty of NEMESIS units in this scenario. I won, but it was quite a battle of attrition to me. I didn´t like the sheer amount of enemy reinforcments there, coming endlessly from the corners of the map until the very end of that scenario.

Except for one or two very special NEMESIS units, I don´t think they should come back if destroyed or captured. You can reserve such a behavior for famous non-german war heroes instead.

Theres only one nemesis unit, and thats vega. If you kill vega thats it, no more nemesis later. The rest are just plain units with heroes.
You get heroes....your just not the only side that does now...
Heroes arnt so useful if your enemy fields them too...
