Encirclement?
I have a question on encirclement, I played panzer corps a little bit, have to admit I just played casually and wasn't the greatest player but no awful either. I encircle the enemy, so questions are how long do you wait for encirclement to take effect and what are the affects, do they eventually surrender. I think I might be attacking to soon.

The main effect of encirclement is that units are unable to restore their status -- normally, units will recover fuel, ammunition and clear suppression when a turn begins, but when they're encircled they don't. Suppression will also increase passively, but you can ill afford to sit around and wait for it, so it's better to just use it to maintain suppression stacks for a turn while you move your assault troops into position.

When you encircle a unit it will get an encircled icon, that you can hover over to see the affects.

The important part is that they don't recover suppression or fuel/amo, as well as a receiving stacking per turn penalties, so you can use it in different ways.

You can use arty and bombers to suppress and/or destroy fuel/amo and then attack when they can't fight back.

Or you can make a series of small attacks to drain the amo etc.

edit: Doh! you beat me...

Ammo and fuel cut starts immediately.

Suppression only stacks by 2 points per turn. 15 strength infantry takes 8 turns of encirclement to fully disable.

While that sounds slow, it's not. Because you can dramatically accelerate the process by using artillery and strategic bombers.

Any suppression done by you do encircled units becomes permanent instead of being reset at the start of enemy turn, as long as the enemy is in an encircled state at the start of their turn.

So....

2 suppression + 5 more from artillery strike = 7 permanent suppression. That's 1/2 a 15 strength unit disabled until it is freed from encirclement.

Thanks guys, do they eventually surrender if left encircled?. The reason why I asked is because, on eastern front whole armies surrendered do to encirclements.
