Embarkation issues.
Has anyone else noticed this? Tutorial has problem demonstrating how ro embark land units from a port. While going through the tutorial, when it got to the part to demonstrate how to embark land units to move across bodies of water, the UI icon is not working. They simply would not embark onto transports.

For instance, when I moved a tank to the port and clicked on the UI icon for embarking, tank remained a tank, not a transport vessel, and no sea hexes were options to move to.

Are we talking about Tutorial 4? It definitely works for me there. Just tried it again.

Yea it was #4 I think, but I ran outta time to test further, as my two hour free trial before returning for refund was up.

It works in the tutorial, as I have completed it. You need to stand right on the port hex for the icon to light up. Your ship can also move straight away afterwards.

I would have liked to get information about disembarking beforehand, btw, and the vulnerability of transports. Yes, it is obvious in hindsight, but it hurt a lot to land this first time.

Port was the coastal city right? My tank sat right on it, Icon lit up, and I pressed on icon. No ship ever appeared. No sea hexes ever appeared to move to. Did you get a ship or did you just move unit directly to the foreign shore?

The port is the part with the pier, the first hex is only city. But since the icon turned gold, you must have been in the right spot. You have a limited capacity of transport ships as shown on the upper side of the screen (small ship icon with a number). If you have already the maximum transports in the water you cannot embark further units until some have landed. Maybe it was this?

Edit: I got a ship for each unit, up to the transport limit.

I didn't have in water at all. And not sure what you mean about icon turning gold, as mine only lit up white.

Just tried to load the scenario to check it out, but I did not make a manual save and the auto saves reach only back into scenario 5 :(
And scenario 6 has no transport capacity at all, so no experimenting there either.

This Ship X-Fer of Units certainly requires too much effort... hence NOT: User-Friendly <or> FUN!
IMHO - A new Patch is required to simplify.
I'm still struggling with it.

Why is this to much effort? You move unit to port and hit s button and it embarks? You must have Movement points left to do so. If you have used all of the units MP then you cannot embark that turn. Air transport works the same. It allows you to do multiple transports from a single port / air field. Yes these are new concepts but they are not hard nor do they need simplified.

I tested the "being out of movement points" theory, by attempting it again on following turn. Still nothing.

That's not what the Steam Refund system is for. If you abuse it like that, they will eventually action your account.

I don't how anyone gets a free game out of that, but I was not abusing anything. I bought the game with the hopes of playing it with my friend vs AI. When this also failed to live up to the promise they made, I was the one being abused. If that was not a just cause for refund, I don't know what is.

BTW, seems Steam agreed with me, as I got my refund.

Putting the thread back on track (a first for me, but these are trying times), I can't get the port to work, either. In the previous tutorial, I never got the train to work. It's like everyone says: you put the unit on the square and the icon lights up but nothing happens.

One thing I have noticed is that the help text screen at the top really messes with the tutorials. If you accidentally or on purpose leave it up, sometimes you have to click on a button a dozen times like Rain Man before it responds. So maybe that's the issue with the port?

EDIT: I got it to work, but there is definitely a bug. Pressing E key for Embark works. Pressing the Embark icon on-screen does not work at all. It makes the click noise and then highlights some hex in the lower left corner of the map, or the lower airfield, one or the other seemingly at random.
