Game won't launch

Hello! I downloaded & installed SPAZ yesterday & when I click "Play", nothing happens. Actually, what happens is a very quick pop up box that says:

Preparing to launch Space Pirates and Zombies... appears for about a second then disappears and... nothing happens. If I click "Play" quickly a second time, I'll get a Steam - Error message that says "Failed to start game (app already running)." but if I wait a few seconds, and click "Play" again, I'll get the first quick pop up box.

I've installed all Steam updates, I've logged out and in, I've even rebooted my computer and same problem persists.

Running Win 7 Home Premium
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.60 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
64 bit

Hi Vhellcat,

This happens once in a while to people. The Steam client is getting upset for some reason before SPAZ even launches. Usually a reboot will fix this, but you mentioned that you have already tried this. It is almost certain that the issue will just randomly sort itself out in the next 24 hours or so. If this isn't sorted out by tomorrow morning, please let me know and I will send you a key for a stand alone version of SPAZ. If you are really excited to play right now, I can even do it now. Just send a mail to [e-mail] and I will set it up.

I am also having this problem but with multiple games that ive recently tried downloading guardians of middle earth being one of them i have tried everything it seems and found no solution

That sounds like an issue on your end or something with Steam. You mentioned it's happening with some of your other games...maybe contact Steam support or try some of the fixes Steam suggests?

ive contacted them waiting on response ive tried everything. ive uninstalled all my steam including all games reinstalled guardians of middle-earth and it prepares to launch then i even clicked i agree and nothing happened. now it just says preparing to launch for a second then it disappears from task manager too.

Hi Guys, I was watching this thread actually however there isn't much I can do aside from recommending the usual is your virus scanner off etc. so I kept quiet since I am sure you have already tried these. Whatever the launch issue is, it seems Steam related as mentioned by Setzway.

What I can do though is send you a stand alone key if you drop me a mail. If you mail [e-mail], I would be happy to send you a key and a download link.

Had this issue start hitting me. Never had this before this week. What is it the requires a restart to play the game? Unless there was a recent change in game coding (in the past month) this is most likely a Steam issue. If this was a Windows issue then simply restarting would make no sense on getting it to work again. Also when some of us are also having other installed games randomly requiring the entire game to download again, it's most likely a Steam issue, not a Windows one.

Let me add, the game is loading into "processes" but the launcher isn't appearing.
