Comet Spotted - What to do to get those Comets!
I'm not sure where i've primary read this very question, so i'm starting a new thread!

For all of you that have just started to play this awesome game and for the ones that did not realised it yet: the beacon through wich you're Ships are inbounding is allways posiotioned at a point the comet is going to pass!

So iff you are not accelerating after the Inbound you can just turn in the direktion where the query tag is comming from and the comet should be on a direkt collision course with you're ship.

Even though the briefing tells you otherwise, the comet is not going to harm you're ships, so all you have to do is to wait there & get youre weapons reddy for the strike. ^_^

(Any ship equipped with 1 - 2 beams should be able to dael with this and the data you'll get is worth the few seconds you need to deal with this missions, iff it occurs)

The comet wont hurt your ship. But when you blow it up, the explosion of the comet most definitely can hurt your ship. If you have small enough ships with low armor/shields they can definitely be destroyed if they are on top of the comet when it blows up.

Indeed. Best strategy is to move a little ways perpendicular off of the beacon from the direction the comet is coming from, not far, just half a screen width or so. When it comes, blast away across the beacon, this way it picks everything up too. Easy.

Also, if you get a tiny ship upgraded with the yellow quality tech engine (and possibly a few levels of the engine tech tree) you can run down those stray comet pieces you might have missed. Doing this also makes the 'defend the science station from stray comets' side mission a lot easier to do.

Another good way is to get a long range beam (e.g. Overload Emitter) and mount it on the biggest turret you got. I Can get the comet and the stray parts with ease.

Hm, i think that the different Versions of Beams are the most usefull Weapons after all. For most of the Threat's that You have to deal with during the Game they are an accelent Choice, started from destroying Comets down to taking out the strongest Enemys, like Headhunter Stronghold's!!! :spazwinky:

The particle cannon with some cannon boosters is also a good choice. Also, you can effectively 'slow down' the stray parts by destroying one of them, though -with comets- you'll have to destroy one from each 'group'... the ones that come with the comet and then the ones that break away after you destroy the comet.

I prefer dumping my current build, in favor of 1 small fast ship with high firepower, this make it easy not only to get the comet originally but the small pieces that shoot off very fast afterwords. Edit: a colt is not a made idea if you give it something with rapid fire
