Also I have Endless Sky in my library (free game), similar.
Ok, will check them out, thanks. But still, wish SPAZ 3 to happen. SPAZ was one of a kind unique experience that shouldn't die
However Drox 2 is basically like "Borderlands in space". The only thing that matters is your level and items, the other races are irrelevant as the fastest way to level is to simply re-make a new galaxy with your current character, because the game seemingly assigns sector levels upon universe creation. If you stick around in your first universe for too long, you're overlevelled and getting no XP. It's worth re-making the universe after you level up once or twice. There's an "XP debt" for doing this where you'll get no XP for x amount of experience, but it's still faster than sticking around in the current universe.
To get above level 25 enemies you need to up the difficulty level. Which increases the amount of random BS like plasma storms generating under your ship if you're stationary too long. Shields take far too long to regenerate, while you're trying to regenerate them you'll get "random" plasma storm generates under you which chips away at your shields. Or a convenient asteroid will hit you and strip your shields away while you're dealing with your inventory. The equipment window is not movable and literally sits dead in the middle of the screen, taking up the entire vertical slice while it's open.
There's also only one decent racial choice (which controls your skill tree, racial equipment slots and ship model) which is Scavenger as it has 2 useful racial slots. The other races either have straight our bad racials, or only 1 of the 2 is useful.
The game is poorly balanced and annoying. Unfortunately it's not a replacement for SPAZ 1. I tried to like it with 20+ hours, but SPAZ 1 was a masterpiece and there doesn't seem to be anything like it.
Yes, Starsector is good, but game didn't reach at least 1.0. Don't want to spoil the experience, until game is polished

try star valor
SPAZ 1 is at least for me one of the most underrated games EVER and it deserved much better than it got, anyways i'm still optimistic that one faithfull day we'll get to play SPAZ 3, and it is going to be legendary.
PD: i speak of the games popularity for two main reasons, first it'd do wonders for MinMax and i really whish them the best, and two... imagine the sheer POTENTIAL of a thriving modding scene with an integrated steam workshop, like Noita's community for example imagine how beautiful that could be, the limitless possibilities, only major drawback would be the game's code limit i think...
