Completed quests still show as active quests.
(Look out Earl and Damsel in Distress)

Thanks for letting us know about this. If you click on your completed quests tab, and then back to active quests in the journal window, do they still show up in active quests?

Yes they do.

What is the current quest text on each of those quests?

"I freed Emily from the cage I found her in."

With Lookout Earl I still have the cross because I can't find a place at his shack to place it. There
is one already there.

Thanks! For the Damsel quest, you are stuck in a bit of a limbo state because the quest was changed slightly. I'll fix it to where it will complete the quest for you if you talk to Bert along the road from edge town to the pit where you rescued Emily.

The place where you put Earl's cross is just north of Edge Shack, next to the tree. It's kind of hard to see but there is a little mound of dirt there that you can interact with.

I can't believe I missed the mound at Earls's place.

I talked to Bert again with no change, the quest remains in the Active list but without the little location icon.

Sorry, the fix for the Damsel quest is not live yet. I've got it fixed locally, and it will be included in an upcoming hotfix patch.
