[SPOILER] Soft lock on nymbus island?

After many hours of having run around after solving the puzzle, I broke and looked up what should be done.
My current save file is at nymbus island with the puzzle solved (so all the npcs have left), and I never got Tess' scrying totem before coming to the island. Is there any way of getting back to midtown without having access to her totem/hat to ride the updraft? I have lots of hours into this game already and am not really up for restarting due to a soft lock.

The NPCs go into the huts at night to sleep. They haven't and wont vanish until you are able to get off the island. If you check the lower right hand side you shall see a clock there, anytime between 9pm and 5am on nymbus and you shalln't beable to interact with any NPC.

If you dont have the items for the first tess interaction, kill some rage slimes.

I was in the exact same situation! Don't worry its not a soft lock, you just need to give tess what she needs :)
