Spined Ling?

How to catch this fish? I found that there is a fish that bite your bait quickly, is it this fish? If so, how can i catch it if it's this fast? Is there a way i can slow it down? I already tried to use both Adventurer Pack and Adventurer Hat and maxed my fishing-related skill, but it's still hard to catch at this rate. Moreover, the best fish that i can get from my current setup is only the lancer or inkeel.

Or... is the fish located in the area with the storm rune? I can't seem to fish there even with fishing rod, deep lure, and power bait equipped. Is there any upgrade that can let me to fish there?

EDIT: i got the info from the dev that this fish can only be caught rarely when it's raining (not storming).

I would be interested to know what will result in this catch as well. Have had no luck catching one either.

The spined ling is a VERY rare fish that can be found in the sea. the nymbus isles have a slightly higher chance for fish and the fishing rod now has a decelty higher chance for good fish as well. there is also apprently good fish areas and bad fish areas.

Whoa, i have been trying to catch it for more than one in-game day... am i just that unlucky? Is the good fish area depend on a specific spot or a specific region? I have been trying to catch it in the screen with snail race since thats where i got it from sea trap (too bad i cant get the achievement that way), not sure if i'm on the right spot or not.

But still, the rate needs to be increased or something. It is annoying to find the fish this way...

I've caught a few with sea traps - learn the spell from Ichorus.

Catching it with sea traps dont grant the achievement, sadly. I already caught one myself too :(

okay, i just spent ~1h to catch it, no luck. it would be better if the achievement is replaced by capture all chiemeras imo. that was more fun than catching fish like this.

I'm not really an achievement hound. So, I haven't really bothered with it. But, is there any chance that the Diamond Ring might help?

i'm not sure, but i can try it again tomorrow. i was too exhausted trying to catch this fish today.
i'm not sure if it will help though since the description only said that it attracts goldfish... spined ling's description only mentioned that it's very agile.

Haven't caught one myself, nor made it to the isles yet. What about doubling high DEX and power bait?

i used power bait. idk what do you mean by doubling high dex though. i used fox mask so it was already over 100 before i switched to adventure hat.

Sorry about that! just meant having increased DEX seeing as the fish is speedy!

Ah, i see. I'm not sure how much dex i need to be then if it does help, since fox mask apparently isn't enough, hahah.
