Minor nations.
Something that confuses me is how minor nations and forming alliances with them works? is it just RNG or am I missing something? I honestly would like to have more Minor Allies cause I often just sell my ships instead of upgrading them. And having 1 or no minor allies is very, very annoying cause often times I have a ship that needs sold. And No ones gonna buy it, Or I can't get as many ship building contracts, "Thats what I call the events for building like a Battleship for a minor nation ally." Yeah so I think they need to work on diplomacy in the campaign.

Q: I honestly would like to have more Minor Allies
A: Being a strong nation is the way. Same as in reality.

Last I checked minor nations becoming allies are completely random, for instance Austria can get Korea as an ally while Japan can get Bulgaria and Romania as allies

As for selling ships, its allright, mainly something to help get your working money built up early, as later on the longer build times for BBs and BCs can be a real pain taking up a bunch of your dockyard capacity post 1910 or so

Oh, and if you are sentimental, be sure to check the names given to the ships sold to your allies so you don't have things like Dreadnaught or Warspite sold to Brazil

I think something, like prestige or and unrest may lead to getting minor allies, and make them break alliance:
-at the beginning, with me doing a lot of diplomacy to prevent alliances and more as one enemy at once, i get -prestige, and it takes time to get minor allies compared to the AI nations
-after winning the first war, more and more ally me
-with rising unrest, around 35-50+ maybe, they start to break the alliance

I like them most as refueling and repair station during wars away from my homeland/big harbours. As i set some rules myself how long to keep ships, i am not selling so much ships, but thats my decision.

Maybe, but in a good game you should always keep high prestige and low unrest anyway (i.e: constantly win in battles). Regardless of the minor nation alliance issue.

Yes, of course, but even with winning almost anything, you can sometimes, i am not 100% sure why, get high unrest. May be tied to taking over provinces from a nation that had high unrest itself or failed land invasions despite having more soldiers and more logistics. (as during me taking over austria, i got over 50...).

The op asked what may influence getting allies, and i told my opinion.

Whats a good game may be also differ to the players own goals and likes.

Invasion and declare war bring unrest, same as reality.

Some minor unshown events or randomness may have a play, the society is not totally stable even when NAVY is not doing anything. In reality, Citizens may protest and burn cars for wages or agriculture issues, etc. without anything to do with NAVY. I can accept that.
