Make AI ships stop running away mid-late game.
Every single battle I have to chase them down for 30 minutes and half the time they just get away. Even if the AI attacks my ships they just start running. How is this fun or functional?

不管AI舰队多强大,它都会逃跑。很没意思。AI的行为有问题,当你把自己的舰队交给AI控制时,它们也会开始逃跑,非常傻

Interessting, as i observed the opposite. Mostly, but not everytime only single TB or DD flee, while if the AI has at least two whatsoever ships, they charge in like the want to commit suicide, not caring what i have.

This is generally my experience as well. Yes, vastly outnumbered ships will turn tail and run, but then so do I.

I was just presented with another "Ambush" attack that I could not withdraw from. My fleet was 4 DDs while the enemy had 1 BB, 1 CA, and 4 TBs. Needless to say, after entering the battle, all I did was select "Retreat" and wait a couple of minutes for the End Battle button to appear...no biggie.

If its late game then their is no reason you should not have a speed advantage....

Why, sounds like a good fight to me...^^

Depending on the details, get rid of the TBs, gun or torp down the CA, reload, and go for the BB.
I once had a battle of 4 i think 300t TBs with 1x2 tubes and 3x1 2" guns vs 2 BBs and 1 CL. Gunned down the CL while on my way to BB 1, sunk it with the 2. salvo of torps, than damaged BB 2, sadly running out of torps before doing enough damage. Got 1 2" hit during the full engagement.

I have a screen of 2 TBs and 1 DD attacking one of my fleet TFs, including at least 4 BBs, 4 CLs and 8 TBs.

I can make ships that are faster than the AI's, but then battles are still just chasing ships every time. If the AI attacks my fleet I'd rather they actually attack instead of making me spend my time chasing the ships down.

If it was not every fight it would be fun, but having to either just leave the battle running til I can end it or micro-managing my faster ships to force them around is not fun for every battle, especially when I have two or more battles every single turn. They all just play the same.

While I understand the AI choosing self preservation, either withdrawaling fleets should get away or be amushed and start in gun range of the aggressor. It's a QOL thing if nothing else, why bother booting up a battle if nothing happens? It would be better if the starting positions were also influenced by the spotting ability of the ships in the combat region. The fleet who spots first to have an option to engage, wait for weather, or attempt to close the distance, having a chance of surrendering the advantage if the other fleet spots yours.

I also find it annoying when enemy ships do not have the speed to get away, but they still drag out a fight as long as possible. Hey, maybe they would actually do better on a direct assault than to die one at a time in a 4 hour retreat...

Its not that hard to give your ships over too the AI as it knows exactly where the enemy is... And hit the times 30 button... this process takes all of a minute at most to chase down whatever ship is "running"

Said it before and it's worth still saying. If you're forced into fighting a battle, the ai better fight.

Exactly, the AI knows our composition just like we do theirs. So why is the AI not choosing the withdraw feature before the battle starts. If I see it's a single TB I know the AI will run so I choose withdraw. This is another half baked simple system that got screwed up in a devoplers vision. It should work simple. Both says agree to fight, they fight. One side chooses to fight and the other doesn't, the side that choose to attack should have to chase the other. If both choose to withdraw, then no fight. Not the AI always choosing to fight then fleeing because algorithm suddenly kicks in that says I can't win this fight. That should have kicked in at the engagement popup that asks if you wish to flee or not.
The AI does come back as soon as they lost sight of my BB, so when I cannot catch them I will leave the BB on cruise speed and wait a moment before ending the battle.
