How to Make US Pre-Dreadnoughts.
Besides Maine and texas, it kinda seems impossible to accurately make a lot of the Early US Battleships, like Indiana or Iowa

I haven't tried earlier ships, but it's basically impossible to make most anything I have tried actually true to life. I'm assuming you're talking about one of the other Iowa's but for the WW2 one, the correct hull on its own weighs as much as the actual, full, USS Iowa did. Once you slap on the correct guns, correct armor, etc, it's like double the tonnage it's supposed to be. All of the weights are insanely over inflated for some reason. For example, the WW2, American 5-inch guns are like 30% heavier than they're supposed to be. Not to mention the fact that where you place said guns on a ship can as much as DOUBLE their weight for no reason.

Where you are placing the guns likely has to do with changes to how much citadel coverage there is.

That's all fine and dandy, but the game desperately needs some kind of X-ray mode, or anything else to properly communicate what is actually changing on the internals of the ship. Regardless, the weights are still insanely over inflated. 40k tons for a WW1 cruiser is utterly insane.
