1920 US Cruiser Hulls
Its 1920, I've researched Advanced BC hulls, but I'm still not getting any new Light or Heavy Cruiser hulls. I still have to use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bathtubs from the beginning of the game.

When am I getting some actual good cruisers?

In part due to randomized hull unlocks and the US tree hasn't been filled out yet. If i'm remembering correctly, i didn't touch cruisers until modern hulls for the US.

USA is poor for cruisers for a very long time. At the same time they have very good battleships, guns and tower tech ... Even I fell early USA battleship very ugly.
I play italians currently, and they have early heavy and light cruisers ... but if you look at it more closely you will see they are almost useless so they are instable, except may be 1 CA hull.

Every country have its advantages and weakness. Some have more than others. To have play USA they have more strenght than weakness by far. However it is true that you will lack a bit of choice for hulls.

in 1920 you are very close to have BC and modern light and heavy cruisers, just a bit of patience.
Its not like I need modern cruiser hulls as the US, I do just fine with battleships and DD spam, its really just super boring that I have to use the same hulls again and again while my battleships get a new hull every 3 years.

Same goes for DDs to a lesser extent. I supposedly unlocked Destroy Hull II but I honestly can't see the difference between it and Destroyer Hull I besides stats.

There actual was not much development in CLs since the end to the 1890-to the 20s... As germany you mostly keep the CL3 hull you get quick after an 1890 campaign start until then...
Most "modern" CLs came during the mid to end 20s or even 30s

first modern german cruiser was the K-Class from 1927
GB build the leander class in 1929
US had the Omahas from 1920, then the Brooklyns from 1935
Japan build actual 4000t DD-leaders, then the Yubari and the Mogamis...
France started their first modern CLs in the mid 20s
Italy started building the „Condottieri“ classes starting around 1928...

Not sure.... I'm in a US campaign that started in 1890. It's now winter of 1920 and I have a CA hull 1 and Modern CA hull 1... along with a modern light cruiser and 2 scout cruiser hulls. That said, I just got twin turrets for my CLs. Triples for any gun size are still a fantasy right now.... Take that back. I have triple secondaries for my BBs.

You can get decent cruisers by 1920 with the US but you really have to work for it. (I've essentially been at war with someone since 1900 or so.)
I finally got a 'scout cruiser' CL hull thats a breath of fresh air.

Tho I have to wonder why my tech is still considered 'average' when I have invested 100% into it from basically turn 1.

From what I can tell and your mileage may vary, but I have research at 100% but I also kept Transport capacity slider as high as possible (usually 100%) until capacity reaches 200%..... Although I've also been taking over the world (I invaded and took Japan.....) My tech is considered Very Advanced.

Because you focused your tech on that one thing you slowed down your tech in all the other area's

The more you focus the less efficient your tech is and the slower your tech as a whole progress's so try to avoid focusing if at all possible....

Nah man, I change my tech focus depending on which of the bars is closest to finishing. Only exception, ironically, is with hulls which I just let passively research without a focus.

Exactly the problem...

Look its not that hard to explain so I will give it a try....

Item takes 12 Months but you focus it now its 2 Months
now you focus Item 2 that has say 7 months left and it now takes one month
and the other focus now takes 3 Months
and now you focus the 3rd item which takes say 8 months and its now going to finish is 2 months

the First focus went to 3 Months and the second focus back to 2 Months....

Now all of the Unfocused area's Have changed from being 18 Months from finished to 54 Months from finishing

And their are Way more Unfinished area that are not being focused then area nearly finished that you are focusing....

I use to do it your way I know what your trying to do, and honestly in my mind it feels like its the correct way or at least should be the correct way, I mean why put in 3 focus area's if its indeed actually just a trap to slow down the players tech.... Well I am telling you its just a trap to slow down the players tech...

You can test this bye simply trying a new campaign and resist the urge to focus and you will clearly see if your even being honest with yourself that "Not picking focus's" IS WAY more efficient...

Yeah, focusing any one tech slows down every other tech significantly. I only realized that recently and was using all 3 focuses and rotating them constantly. I never noticed how much they slow down the other techs. Started a new campaign and haven't focused anything and its crazy how much faster it goes.
