I think that's certainly a fair compromise.
The only use I can see for subs could be as minelayers, but I didnt tried that at that time, CL do the job.
It'd be great if we could get them to raid convoys and do port strikes without having to use a full battle fleet for it, ya know?
I'd really like the option to remove mines and subs. These take away player agency and, to me at least, cause a lot of frustration.
Better still would be the inclusion of subs on the battle-map so that we can actually fight them instead of relying on RNG to see what happens.
At the end you will have no difference between DD and CL except may be the size.
I would like to play subs in battles though. Would be fun
No removal. You're the Ultimate Admiral, and that means dealing with subs.
My capital ships never travel without 3 destroyers who all have asw and anti mines capacities when available.
I used destroyers to lay mines in my first games, but now I devolve that to light cruisers to gain weight on DD.
