Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts

Early U.S. Battleship hulls could use some refining.
The only early U.S. Dreadnaught hull we get is basically a Mississippi or enlarged MIssissippi. There aren't enough casemates for Oklahomas and Pennsylvanias and it puts U.S. ships at a clear disadvantage that only 4 centerline turrets can be placed (properly, not frankenships), and secondary armament is limited. We really need a good early dreadnaught hull 1905-1913 that you can build a Utah, Delaware, Wyoming on. Other Factions have "experimental dreadnaught" hulls, I think the U.S. faction could use one with a longer aft end.

In afterthought, I should have added this one to the "feedback" section. But it's a little late now. Sorry about that.

I hate to nitpick, but...

The first US dreadnoughts were South Carolina and Michigan. The early 1900s Mississippi was a pre-dreadnought (sold in 1914 to Greece, sunk by the Luftwaffe in WW2). The later Mississippi (BB-41) was a super-dreadnought commissioned in 1917 which was in service until 1956. The next Mississippi was a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser (I served on her).

It is annoying that the US pre-dreadnought hulls in the game cannot be used to design a typical US battleship of the time, many of which 4x 8" twin secondary turrets.

No, you're right Dave, thanks for waking my ass up. It was South Carolina and Michigan, later Lemnos and Kilkos in the Greek Navy, but these hulls definitely are NOT Nevada/Oklahoma/Pennsylvania hulls. They are clearly the South Carolina hulls. U.S. Ships of this era have virtually zero chance against British or German ships with these limitations.

By the way Dave, thanks for your service fellow squid. I served aboard a replenishment ship. We performed countless unreps at sea with just about every other ship in the fleet. It was literally the best time of my life. I appreciate the correction.

Don't know why we can't get correct hulls for Wyoming, New York, Nevada and Pennsylvania classes. Maybe the devs have a bias, eh?

The designers are mostly doing European hulls. I suppose its just what is easiest for them, mostly taken from the early Jane's. But I've been onboard (so to speak) for quite some time and they continue to add and refine. I hope one day they will pickup copies of "American Steel Navy" and "American Battleships 1886-1923" so that they will understand what we're talking about.
