"Germany can't arm their BB*s with more than 16 inches, because those STUPID towers."

"Maybe it will be fixed by 2025.................................."
Maybe you will learn how to play the game by then.
Edit: Because why not, for the sake of silliness. Was kind of curious how many 330mm guns I could actually cram onto the thing with the displacement slider all the way to the left.

Further edit: Can tell how often I play around with the later era's. Didn't even realize those big towers incorporated a funnel. Not even sure how the OP could make the mistake of thinking they couldn't equip a BC with 330mm guns. Know I could stick yet another center mount up front with the funnel incorporated into the tower.
Edit edit, edit: Because I'm an editing fool and really, really bored.

The final iteration of the 320mm armed German BC that can't carry 320mm guns.
Definitely a PEBCAK issue.
Some stuff IS limiting, and yes packing 20 inch guns on a BB to EARLY and not being allowed because...... DESIGN AND TECH INFERIOR TO YOUR THINKING.
You need to research tech to.... add guns on OBVIOUS spots for guns on a warship. Same for casemates. There are spots for it, there is even enogh room for it, can you? NOPE tech prohibits it. Same for smaller guns in large slots.. you just cant as... game doesnt want you. No 88mm guns on mikasa because game doesnt allow for anything smaller than 105mm guns (if not outright 127...)
So what OP said is true, you just need proper data so you can see for yourself. Plus: Some turrets of smaller guns ARE bigger all of the sudden than larger guns... we see that when you start 1890 and research mk2 gun turrets... their larger on smaller gun calibre than on big ones...
I assumed you had a typo. Here you go with 320mm guns. Still clearly impossible to place on a German BC.

It should also be noted, until manual caliber adjustments, there really weren't 320mm guns in the game. As it sits they're an upsized 305mm with the scaling clearly off. Which has little to nothing to do with the towers, the actual 305's fit just fine.
Hmmm, I know it is stupid. but actually, you don't have to put things on the given hardpoints.
You can hold shift, and then it will place at where your mouse is pointing at. It doesn't work with turrets on bridge or other structures, but work for deck mounted item like bridge, funnel, and turrets.
Luckily game developer's have experts like Zuul to help you.But when I build ships, I want them to be similar to history,88mm secondary guns for German cruisers for example.320mm is not history for Germany, but Italy.Gulio Cesare had 320mm.And you can with difficulty put guns outside of hard points, so why even have these stupid hard points? This game is so brilliant on some things, like scaling guns, and so stupid on other, why even have built in barbettes when you don't use them?Just a massive waste of space.
You'll be happy to know that the Italian battleships do not have any issue fitting the 320mm. In fact, the Italians, who historically actually used that gun size don't have an oddball turret model like the Germans do for that size. The issue on the German ship isn't that the gun won't fire....it's that the bulk of the turret is such that once you upscale the 305 to 320 it no longer has physical room to rotate without striking the tower. Weapons that Germany historically mounted can be used in those slots without issue.
