il2cpp? Are you kidding me?
As of version 1.5 it seems you guys decided to switch to Unity's optional (and nefarious) il2cpp compiler. PLEASE consider switching back to mono. Il2cpp kills modding. Even something as simple as modding the min/max zoom is now impossible. My daughter (age 7) enjoyed making ships in the game but she's not good at playing so I modded a difficulty setting for her to make it easier. Also now impossible.

Il2cpp will be the death of Unity if other companies pursue this short-sighted path.

It was fun to tinker in previous versions. Infinite campaign was really fun but it will be so much better with real mechanics.

I added manually fired torpedoes. I set the game to auto-pause when torpedoes were spotted. I added hotkeys. Will the final game's "real mechanics" have those? I doubt it.

The worst part is they don't even do this to stop modding. They do it for the (alleged) slight performance gain, Very sad.
if the devs aren't ready for it then I get it, but we need the saving light of the glorious mod to let this game live longer

The devs here have never been a fan of mods for their games and have normally gone out of their way to make life more difficult or impossible for them. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if this was done on purpose because of exactly what you mentioned,

I don't understand why so many devs hate modding; especially given how modding kept so many titles alive for so long back in the 90s and early 2000s.

Its still keeping games alive, you think SKyrim would have had so many remasters and special editions if people were not modding it? Heck no.

I wonder if this is because of Game-Labs being bought. None of their other games used the dreaded il2cpp and I enjoyed them greatly.
If they don't release a non-il2cpp build then, to me, this game will have died incomplete at version 1.4.
Someone bought gamelabs?
That explains it.. RIP
