'In Being' and "Sea Control'
Hello everyone,

On the campaign map, what is the difference between setting ships to 'In Being' and 'Sea Patrol'? I know what these terms mean in real life, but I can't find an explanation as to what they do in terms of game mechanics.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Sea control provides more favourable missions than in being, but this requires multiple ships in this 'mode'.

Just think of it as attacking and defending.

If you're defending then you don't get to choose the odds and so are always either fighting an equal fight or an unfavourable one.

Sea control is the opposite.

You also get different missions when in Sea control like port strike.

I've not found any difference in terms of convoy protection and there definitely isn't any difference in power projection.

Personally I recommend either having your entire navy in one mode or the other.

Thanks so much, that is very useful. I'll test them out sometime.

I'll just add the only reason i ever have a ship 'in being' while all others are 'sea contrrol', is to reduce the chance of a ship with a defunct design (plus outperformed by new enemy designs) to be in combat, and merely serve as power projection in a safe port.. This doesn't happen every campaign I play, but I have done it on two campaigns, they basically turn into naval reserves.
