I used a pre-paid visa that I purchased at a Walgreen's. I don't use personal credit cards online, ever.
I played the hell out of Rule the Waves 2. The ship construction is as good, but the flat 2d blue dots representing the ships at sea is not.
This game has MUCH better potential, long term, after reading what the developers would like to see.
RTW2's campaign, and the use of sea zones, was excellent, as was the building of foreign ports and defenses. I would like something like that for this game.
Could I convince anyone for RTW campaign with Steam & Iron wartime? =)
A little more than a tiny bit, imo.
I have 824 hours in Naval Action. Here's my point of view.
The game is slow paced. I mean, REALLY slow paced. It will take you several months to progress to a point where you can see end game content.
The game is dying..to the point where you can sail all day and only see one or two humans.
The PvP server is tremendously f*cked up. If you join that, prepare to be spawn camped and ganked on a daily basis.
The ONLY way to thrive and survive is to join a clan. With this comes clan drama, favoritism, and expectations of your performance. It's like World of Warcraft in that regard. If you just want to tool around the ocean, and sinking NPC's, you can...and progress at a very slow rate.
Now..I loved the game, like I said, 824 hours is a LOT. I am a rear admiral in the game, with top notch production facilities, crew, and ships. But I probably won't go back to it.
Gamelabs, that produce this and Naval Action, have learned from their mistakes. Their blind favoritism to the PvP crowd will lead to the ultimate failure of Naval Action. STRONG rumor is that they will shut down the PvE server, and FORCE all players onto the PvP servers. Players like me will adapt, or die.
This game has SO much more potential than the badly managed Naval Action, which in my experience and expert opinion, is dying an ugly death.
Thank you for your feedback, seems is not for me
The battles are 3d (also real time), you send air strikes (also 3d real time, also you can fly the planes with controller/keyboard) from way out etc.
Only issue is, it was a tad rushed and can be unstable, so I recommend unofficial 1.8 patch (mod) for it, it cleans up most of the instability, check the Pacific Storm Gamers group for details: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/PacifcStormGamers
It's a dated game of course, so you're not gonna get individual shell damage model and all that, but, worth a look IMO.
