ship speed in fleet management is misleading
Quite a few people proclaim cheating since they cannot move against the wind; I presume this might happen especially because it’s not easy to read the actual impact of the wind on ship speed in the ship’s sailing information details correctly because:

imho the ship bow pictured should be pointing in the opposite direction to represent the correct speed. Currently it looks as if the ship has its lowest speed/negative speed when the wind blows directly from behind the ship.

I wouldn't mind a couple of long flags or streamers just blowing in the wind. Or the rain/water could be a bit more responsive to the wind. I just think that the impact of the wind on your speed/maneuvering is a lot higher than the visual impact on the screen and that feels wrong.

Sometimes the flags/streamers blow in the wrong direction.

To clarify, it's specifically the speed info that the player finds in the fleet management screen underneath the left box showing the ship model when clicking the "details" info button. The box will show the speed of the ship in relation to the wind direction.
Unfortunately the ship's bow points 180 degrees in the wrong direction.
I already wanted to report that, but no F11 reports can be send at the moment.

F11 still works? I submitted one this morning?

Hi, the diagram shows the speed regarding the direction of the wind related to the ship position, not regarding where wind is coming from. If the direction is TO (and not FROM) the red zone (at 6 o'clcok of the ship in diagram), then ship has negative speed, if blows to 12 o'clock has a high speed, etc.

This is the standard way that all wind diagrams for sailings ships are drawn. It is called a polar wind diagram.

ships speed is down to how strong the wind is and what direction. tail wind is no good for multi masted ships as the rear masts sails will block the wind getting to the sails in front. so it needs to sail at a 45 degree angle to the wind for best speed. heading into a wind u need to furl most of the sails or the ship will go backwards.

U need to get ur ships in the best possible place to have the wind in ur favour and against the enemy ships so they cant close in on u so easy.

Nelson was the master at that. Copenhagen, Nile, Trafalgar. all won cause he got the wind behind him. and the enemy ships would have to sail into the wind by tacking to move which meant they couldnt bring their guns to bare as much
