Reputation cost for crew???
As US I noticed as I add crew to some ships it costs me 1 Rep to add additional even though I am below max? And muskets too as it turns out when you try and buy some?

I noticed the same thing but you're not paying the reputation cost for the men but for the weapons your crew is using. If you switch to weapons that you already have enough of in your armoury then you won't have to pay the reputation cost.

Looked like I had plenty of weapons???

You pay reputation for weapons in the shop if you don't have enough in your armory. You must not have had enough.
I think it's a little strange that weapons require reputations though. What do you guys think?

Since most of them are captured I can't see why you pay rep for them as well.

I think it fits for the US campaign. Helps represent that everything was in short supply and that captured goods are always better to rely on.

The whole 1 musket = 1 rep and 100 musket = 1 rep setup isn't great though. Not sure what a good solution to that is though.

Yeah that isn't too good.
I've found a work around where I will buy guns directly instead, in whole hundreds, fx 200 or 300 to avoid wasting reputation on it

I think he means that he buys them in bulk from the armory first then tops up the crew numbers. That way you avoid the "add 1crew-member to one ship, pay one Rep; add 5 crew-members to the second ship, pay another Rep" problem.

Yep, this. I try to look at more which guns are affordable and in enough numbers and then try to keep my soldiers using the same model for simplicity

Weird. When i want to buy from the armoury in my current US campaign i still have to pay the reputation cost. That is in the 0.6.52 beta. Just downloaded the new update so i am gonna test it again. And it was like that in the stable branch too.

You do not pay for the crew, you pay for weapons. There is a lack of weapons at the begging of war and if you want to get weapons then you spend your reputation. If you sell weapons you earn a reputation because the young army needs them. US campaign has a higher reputation in rewards and payment for trophy because any small victory has a huge effect.

You always do spend rep for weapons, regardless of where you buy them. The thing is, if you buy them from the armory you'll pay 1 rep per hundred weapons (if my memory serves right) which you can then use to add crew to your ships. On the other hand, if you were to add crew without having bought the weapons first you'll end up paying 1 rep to add 20 crew to the first ship, another rep to add 15 crew to the next ship and so on and so forth.
