ship center of balance/thrust way off
so on the shuttle you fly in the tutorial missions, I've noticed that the center of mass/thrust is way off. I fly with a Hotas, and I have to keep the stick pulled back halfway to keep the craft level while in Vtol mode as it tends to nose dive. likewise at low speed forward flight it has a tendency to do this as well. is there a pitch trim setting I'm missing or something?

In Vtol mode, depending the airspeed and the amount of thrust applied, it's normal the shuttle behaves like you describe.
No trim setting is available yet, but it is on the list of features to add.

Well its the worst when I try to land. almost a complete hover in a very slow descent.

Sounds like your calibration is off, I don't have to fight the pitch like that at all. To me it seems at a high thrust setting (over 80%) the ship wants to pitch up, and at lower thrust settings it wants to pitch down.
So doesn't seem like there's a linear thrust ratio between the rear and front engines for the entire throttle range. But if you nail that ~80% thrust value you can get the ship to hover quite nicely but it's going to ascend at around 25 m/s.

I can maintain around 0 pitch and 0 VSI for however long I like, and note the position of the stick meanwhile.

if it was a calibration issue then it would be doing that in space too but it isn't.

So when you're in space, you can get the ship to rotate forwards just as fast as you can backwards?
And you have checked both the Input visualiser and calibration utility that they indicate a full forward and backward range on the stick? And that the zero point really is at the centre.

yes.

for the sake of arguement, yes I've done all that. I'm using the Thrustmaster hotas warthog and I played a lot of flight-sims, so I would definitely notice if one of my control axis' was acting up like that. even insured that the two toe brake axis' of my rudder pedals were unbound in the game.

Like I mentioned, this weird pitch down force only happens while hovering in Vtol mode. and when transitioning from hovering into forward and level flight. no puffs of RCS thrust when I'm landed or in space and my hand if off the stick. and when I let go of the stick while in a hover, the RCS shuts off as expected but it still pitches forward on its on.
