There seems to bee a free roam mode available, as well as missions.
There's an info page that tells a little more of what is planned..
If you read the game description you would see that it is talking about what the full game has.
If you read the early access notes you would see that many features in the game description aren't in the early access version yet.
So it's just a bunch of canned missions? How many are there?
Nothing "open world" like getting a mission from a place you landed at dynamically?
Not sure what the difference is between 'canned missions' and structured missions, but there are sort of standalone missions in the world. There are more training missions too. The demo is not all that much different than the full game right now. The missions are basically just static one-off 'fly from here to there' kinda deals.
Also, in the other thread the dev is giving out keys, so you can always try to ask for one.
* Free flight - Start at one of a few predefined locations. Go do whatever you want
* Missions - Pick up missions at different ports and go do them. The missions I've done so far has been "Deliver this from A to B", "Find something roughly south-west from A, scan it, and report back" (scan is a new feature not shown in the demo, where you have to hover really bloody close to something for a significant time)
* Training - Like the demo, but more
Free flight might be more interesting if the planet was more varied and had more things to see. If it's the same as in the demo, it's quite bland.
Ah so you do fly to different places to get missions? That's a lot more interesting than just having a canned mission you select from the main menu.
