-Serpent in the staglands,
-someone mentioned darklands on this forum,
-dr. dungeon's madman is a weird obscure one (can't vouch for quality) but in the vein of spiderweb stuff,
-dungeon's of chaos,
-hell...if you like classic ms-dos jank then warwizard, disciples of steel and knights of legend can scratch the itch,
- magic candle 3 and its spiritual sequel bloodstone an epic dwarven adventure
-Aethra chronicles
-Aleshar world of ice
-wizard's crown
And many more...
I love finding these hidden/niche gems and there are so many out there...though your individual mileage may vary, one man's trash and all that
Eye of the Beholder - SNES
Wizardry V: Heart of Maelstrom - SNES
This seems like an amazing variety of games.. however I cant find most of them!!
Ultima games..I have delved in extensively as a boy..one of the best games series I ever played together with FA1 and 2.
Serpent game Ive tried long time ago..and didn't connect to it at all.
Darklands looks way too outdated to still enjoy today.
Thanks for the effort though.
That Kingsvein is surprisingly high cost in comparison to other games.
It also looks completely different experience then SKLAD and similar games, focusing more on combat and less on other stuff. It looks more like an ARPG..I rather buy DIABLO 4 if im going that route.
As for emulators and other consoles I have no access to those,im solely focusing on STEAM games.
Dr. Dungeon's madman: https://store.steampowered.com/app/684570/Dr_Dungeons_MADMAN/
Just remembered this one Faery tale adventure 2 (Setup instructions included) can be played turned based: http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/306/Faery+Tale+Adventure+II+-+Halls+of+the+Dead.html
FTA2 is older but its worth it though, here is a youtube video of gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNTdx4aSaHw
probably easiest out of the box to play out of some of those older games
Kingsvein focuses as much on the tactical combat as on map exploration. It's not that wordy, but I do see where the comparison to the game comes from.
Tides of Numenera (ignore the bad rep; it is not Torment, yet it is still a good game)
Wildermyth (looks cutsy, is a pretty indepth crpg and can go some dark places)
Felvidek (highly recommend this one; looks weird and it actualy is in all the best ways)
PS: Forgot Vendir. Yeah, it was/is also a mobile game, but frankly a very good one in a very dark/bizzare scenario, with a pretty deep combat, item and progression system (and without mtx on PC)
Amazing!!
You actually brought me two games I haven't heard of and they both seem exactly what I was looking for,not that I mind the price, but free on top?
Thanks man,much appreciated!
edit: I stand corrected, Three games to boot! yeeha you made my day! 🥳🥳 🙌
GOG is your answer.
Priceless millenial comment.
GOG also seems to do a better job at providing versions which work much better on modern hardware.
If you're willing to go with a first-person blobber, you could try the Bard's Tale Trilogy, which has been remastered to have greater graphical fidelity. Or you could try the Realms of Arkania trilogy, which is also mostly a blobber, but it does have top-down turn-based combat.
Wasteland has also been remastered, though I've heard some criticism of that remaster. The original is still available, though.
Doesn't get mentioned enough!
