When do you start finding spells?

I chose a Champion which seems pretty much like a cleric and I put some points into healing spells but I am currently exploring the caves under the light house and I have yet to find a single one, which is leaving me feeling like a half assed fighter. Do they come into the game a bit later or am I missing something?

You must put enough ranks to get the feat not just one or two points, when you do you get to pick spells automatically (2 of them) from that school, in the prologue flashback there is also a path to the left in the final chamber before you meet Embla' father (the man who gives you your mission) that has a library of spell books if you had put 3 points into the first tier of the school you wanted you can learn the spells in the books at that point. You don't get to keep the books. You can learn two spells from that school from putting enough points in the feat and maybe a couple more from those books.

In the same room there is also right path that has an interesting event and skill checks that could earn you xp or some interesting side content.
