somewhat unintuitively investing in strength and agility is better than fortitude for health as the early returns on health fall off quick at higher levels whereas dodge stays relevant once encumbrance doesnt eat into it. As for spells heals are always good or the buffs of heroism is great and very cheap, bear strength is good but twice the cost, you can also cast after rest and it will last until the end of your next battle.
*edit oh the stun spells are phenomenal to decently helpful but somewhat situational, they do help mitigate damage per round, I find them best for setting up backstabs or collective beat downs on troublesome foes. It seems there arent any stun resistant monsters in the game though there are late backstab resistant ones.
