THE MINES - What to do

So I'm at the MINES, where you can find that boss who cannot be defeated (if you fight you will insta die). What should I do here? I cannot find "the stairs" which an NPC told me about. I don't want to leave this place before ending this quest.

You need to actually pick the dialog option to fight once, then pick FLEE right after to trigger the story sequence.

There's a note on a table in the eastern section. It mentions an unstable beam. Said beam is very close to it. Interact with it and you'll be able to "set a trap" once you've done so you get an additional option in the boss encounter.
