Multiple monitors?
Hi,

Does this support multiple monitors? Am I able to pin them around me to show my 3 screens?

Hi, 2 windows have never frozen. The 3rd window which is display3, the entire window freezes. When I take off my VR headset and look at the physical screen, that is working as normal. So within OVR Toolkit that window has completely frozen and I've noticed sometimes the mouse cursor turns into a graphical black glitch. The entire window freezes, yet the physical monitor works as if nothing is wrong. All 3 monitors are plugged into the same graphics card.

A couple of times I've managed to delete the window in settings, then add display3 window again and it worked. Today, I had to close OVR Toolkit, relaunch it and all 3 windows working again.

It's intermittent, no real pattern to it. Nothing I can pinpoint that is causing it.

Huh, that is very weird. Considering it's the same GPU it should really be the same for all.
Please let me know if you figure out some pattern with that!

Maybe a specific application that's open for example.

Steam VR, Teamviewer, Chrome, I have a program that runs my CCTV, that never crashes and the window that is on (display2) never crashes.

I normally have 2 Teamviewer windows open, as I have 2 screens at work in the office, so I open 2 on my PC here at home. The middle monitor (27" 1440p), never freezes in OVR Toolkit either, so it's not an issue with Teamviewer.

The only thing I have open on the display3 is Teamviewer and Chrome. I`ll keep trying to replicate the issue.

The problem should logically be a problem for all 3 displays, not just one. RivaTuner which overclocks the GPU (I`l turn this off for now to test).

The physical screens, never locked up or frozen, so it's definitely an issue within OVR Toolkit and strangely only for 1 window and not all 3.

I will also turn off maximum framerate option for all screens, then see if I can replicate it again.

Ahh, right. Max framerate 'shouldn't' cause issues, but I've never tested it with 3 monitors at once. It puts a lot of strain on the desktop capture API as it's trying to capture 3 monitors at the headset's refresh rate, be that 90 or 120/144 FPS.

There's a lot going on in your usecase so I'm not sure I can get much information from that! Please let me know if you figure out anything!

Next time it freezes, feel free to upload 'uDesktopDuplication.txt' from OVR Toolkit's install folder and link it here. Or just paste the contents of it to Pastebin and link that. :)

Not many programs actively running, just those listed. I see what you mean about the 3 displays it's trying to push through the HTC Vive at 90Hz. Although the option in OVR Tookit says 60FPS?

Thanks for the location of the txt file, I`ll check it out. As mentioned, the other 2 screens have no problem at all, never crashed. What I will do as a test, is use different things on different screens and see if I can cause another window to crash instead. Only thing that comes to mind is Chrome being on that 3rd window.

This is not my screenshot, but similar to how the mouse cursor freezes on that 3rd window, yet I can carry on using the other 2 windows just fine.

Sorry, there's a dedicated option called 'Max Framerate' that bypasses that, I thought you had this enabled. :)

I see, max framerate = tries to match the Hz of the HMD.

Well I have disabled it now and will keep trying to break it again :steamhappy:

Happened again, display3 frozen with a graphical glitch on the mouse cursor. At the moment it frozen I had Teamviewer open and I was using Snipping Tool to grab a screenshot within my remote Teamviewer window, not locally on my own PC.

I closed and reopened OVR Toolkit, display3 working fine and I've tested a few times with Snipping Tool again. Worked fine.

I have disabled Max Framerate yesterday, so it's not that. I will keep trying.

Please upload uDesktopDuplication.log to somewhere or throw it in Pastebin when the issue next happens, please do this before restarting the program as that will reset the log file. :)
(File is in the install directory)

Hi there!

Yep, OVR Toolkit can display multiple monitors like you described.

Please note you need to have 3 >physical< monitors, OVR Toolkit cannot create virtual monitors or display virtual monitors!

(For the setup you're looking for, I'd suggest experimenting with the 'Recenter Window' option in Window Settings and the 'Curve' slider!)

you should totally add the feature of virtual monitors

Currently not sure how to do this I'm afraid. It'd require drivers, which are written in a language I don't know how to work with. :)

Heck yeah, the Sunset Express is still rolling along. :)

Been out of work for a few months due to emotional stress issues, but gradually getting back into it. On vacation next week so after that I should be good to go again hopefully.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully you've got it under control. 1st way of dealing with something is to realise how much of an impact it has on you. 2nd is seeing which method for dealing with it and progression.

I sold my Vive Pro 2, so I've not been in your OVR TK using desktop mode for a while.

Contemplating the bigscreen beyond, but damn it's costly.

I've actually got a PiMax Crystal on hand at the moment! Hoping it'll be my next headset is PiMax irons out of some of the issues. (They don't exactly have a good rep, but it seems better for their new devices!)

And yep, working through my problems so I can get back to doing work!
