OVR Toolkit

OVR Toolkit

High GPU usage
I'm facing the problem that OVR Toolkit is overloading my RTX 3070 graphics card by 40-50% and I can't do anything about it. Even Cooking Simulator, which itself loads the graphics card by 40%, with OVR Toolkit the graphics card is fully loaded and everything becomes inoperable.
Please help me, I don't understand why this is happening.

Hi there,

Which process is using this GPU usage?
OVR Toolkit Settings.exe? Or OVR Toolkit.exe?

I haven't seen these particular processes increase the load on the video card, but as soon as I turn my wrist to see the ovr toolkit the video memory is immediately clogged and the load on the GPU becomes prohibitive.
Maybe it's because I have Quest 3?

Again, without OVR Toolkit even HL Alyx works fine. But after starting OVR Toolkit performance drops and even after closing it does not resume, you need to restart Steam VR as a whole. I disabled supersampling, it didn't help.

Oh right!

On a 3070 you only have 8GB of VRAM i think?
This is usable, but note that SteamVR at idle can be using 3GB, then add the Oculus software, then add the game on top!

What typically happens is OVR Toolkit starts fighting for VRAM with other applications.
I'd check the 'Dedicated GPU Memory' tab in Task Manager before and after launching OVR Toolkit and see if the difference is large.

Under normal circumstances, OVR Toolkit should be using about 400MB of VRAM, depending on number of monitors connected and their resolution. :)
