OVR Toolkit

OVR Toolkit

OVR Advanced Setting doesn't start when OVR Toolkit is activated
AVR Advanced Settings works fine otherwise, but as soon as I put OVR Toolkit in the SteamVR autostart, OVR Advanced Settings disappears. It seems that it doesn't start when OVR Toolkit is activated.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Headset is an Oculus Quest 1, doesn't matter whether it is connected through Virtual Desktop or via link cable.

Hi there!

This shouldn't affect anything, it could be a SteamVR bug?

Do you mean OVRAS literally removes from the Startup/Shutdown list?

It's still in the Startup/Shutdown list, and activated, but doesn't start, so it's icon doesn't appear in the bottom bar of SteamVR.

If you start it manually through Steam does it open correctly?

Having similar issue. Quest 1. Virtual Desktop.

It doesn't launch with Steam VR when enabled.
It does appear in desktop taskbar and shows in task manager, but does not show while in VR

I have to force close via task manager and launch again from inside steam VR, using desktop viewer and launching from desktop Steam Library, then it works.

Only workaround I've found was disabling the Toolkit in overlay apps (OVR Advanced Settings launches fine)
Launching Steam VR, (or virtual desktop) opening desktop viewer to access regular library, launching toolkit from there.

Why doesn't Toolkit show up in the VR games library anyway? Or how do i enable it to show up in the VR games library?
It'd be faster if i could launch it from the VR library.

Hi there!

This is a really weird issue and so far I've only heard of it from a handful of Oculus users, maybe it's something specific to those headsets? Or something specific to which order OVRT and OVRAS are installed in and as a result which order SteamVR launches them in? I'm not sure really! Please let me know if you figure out anything more about this!

As for OVRT not appearing in the SteamVR games list, I've spoke to some people from the SteamVR team about this and their conclusion was 'well it should', and that was the end of that. So I guess we're not getting on that list, something to do with what type of program OVR Toolkit is categorised as I imagine, like maybe 'Utility' programs don't appear there for example, who knows! :)

Yeah. Not sure... I know after steam VR launches, it takes a moment to recognize the headset. I imagine the bug is in the startup....
Perhaps a startup delay might help?

Anyway, can toolkit be launched directly from the executable in the install folder?
I'm thinking i might add that as a non-steam game and check the 'Include in VR library' tickbox.

You can launch 'OVRToolkit-Launcher.exe' directly, but please avoid launching other executables manually!

And maybe you're right on that one, it could be trying to open OVRAS before SteamVR is actually ready. Though, on headsets like the Index, startup applications once start once the headset is fully up and running. SteamVR can be open for 5 to 10 seconds and show the status window prior to it launching OVRAS and OVRT.

Are you using Virtual Desktop also? Or does this happen with the Link cable too?
