Blackscreen w/ NEtflix & Amazon Prime
Hi,

I would like to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime while in Vr. Unfortunately the screen stays black when I tried it out with OVR Toolkit. I used the browser (Chrome) as I read that the dedicated apps dont work due to security precautions.
Now I have seen Videos of people doing this, so there must be some way, however I was unable to find a workaround. Any tipps on workarounds that might work?

Hi there!

If you use Chrome, you need to turn off 'Hardware acceleration' in its settings. This is because Chrome now supports DRM protection, thus it doesn't let you 'record' Amazon Prime and Netflix. :)

Looks they only added this rather recently, maybe something like Firefox doesn't have it yet?

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just searched in and found this. Using Brave here and turning off hardware acceleration did the trick for me as well (too bad it won't work for blurays)! (Haven't used VR in awhile so don't know if this is a new problem.)

Question: Does anyone know what I'm giving up in terms of performance or load? What's the trade-off here? Am I actually taking some load off my graphics card thus freeing more up for VR?

By turning off hardware acceleration you're liking going to see a lot more CPU load. :)

Heheh. Well, I found the setting in Windows and turned it on. I guess I've just got to see how the various apps balance the load. I suspect that VR taxes my 2070 card pretty darn good depending on the game.
