Quest support
Is it possible to use this on the Oculus Quest via virtual desktop? All I am looking to do is put twitch chat in my games while staying completely wireless

I don't believe so I'm afraid!

OVR Toolkit requires SteamVR, to use this with a Quest, I believe you need a link cable. (Or any other thunderbolt/USB-C cable)

Sorry about that!

I respectfully disagree. Steam VR games and OVR Toolkit works great over wireless, as long as your virtual desktop is side loaded. I use it all the time for Elite Dangerous plus Netflix.

Oh, sure, I'll take your word for this!

How does that work though? I thought the Quest had to be wired to use SteamVR?

Thanks for correcting me though, I obviously don't own a Quest. :)

The Quest is great. While the Virtual Desktop app doesn't support Steam VR directly from the store, downloading the additional ability from the separate Side Quest app enables wireless connection to your PC. It is not as good a a link cable, but it works really, really well. A little lag but very playable for most games.

That sounds neat. I miss Vive Wireless now that I have the Index to be honest! :)

Nutshell version: Open (side loaded) Virtual Desktop. From the VD menu, run Steam VR. In the Steam VR libary, run OVR Toolkit. Go back in the Steam VR menu, launch your game.

If you are stuck at any one point, let me know where and I'll go in more detail.

I got a test stream going with a twitch chat window but how do i put it so that when I flip my wrist it comes up? Also whenever I would look at the chat the stream couldn't see it, however I think I've seen streamers that can have it visible. Any tips on that?

Grab and hold the window with your right hand, drag it to the box that appears on your left hand.
Assuming your OVR Toolkit watch is on your left hand. You can move the window to the front or back of your hand. I cant help much with stream capture but has been covered in other discussions here. The Discord group is particularly helpful.

Thank you for the tip about attaching to the hand! Im seeking help from the discord about chat visibility for the stream. But I do have just one more question for you if you know the answer. Do I have to always launch OVR toolkit from the games tab in VD in order for it to work, or is there a way to just launch steam VR or a game from the games tab with the OVR windows being there?

So I've been doing it wrong but it works. ggodin, the VD dev, has stated games have to be launched in from the games tab in VD. But I can't get some games to work from launching them from there. I just open the Steam VR button, launch OVR toolkit from the Steam menu. Then I go back to the Steam VR menu again, and launch my game. The OVR toolkit windows stays open in game. I have to ask in the VD discord why "games must be launched fom the game tab" but it's to crazy today with Halflife Alyx and a new VD beta dropping.
