We are closing a funding round for EFAS; this new funding triples our budget!

Thanks to this, we were able to hire two 3D modelers and a VFX artist and are still recruiting multiple artists to bring you the best game possible.
This was possible thanks to our investors in the NFT/Crypto space.

We’ve announced our desire to implement NFTs in the game in the past, and our investors decided to back us because of this. PLEASE KEEP ON READING AS I ADDRESS YOUR CONCERNS:

ONLY ONE VERSION of the game will have NFTs. You can and will remain able to play without ever interacting with these new systems. You can, however, transition to the NFT version if you’d like to. It is entirely up to you.

WE ARE NOT BECOMING PAY TO WIN; NFTs will be either aesthetic or obtainable in-game and tradable between players. No player advantages will be granted through transactions.

The blockchain we use, Solana, has NO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT (not like Bitcoin or Ethereum) and is carbon neutral:

THE GAME WILL NOT BECOME ANY LESS FUN.
The investors decided to fund us because EFAS is the most fun NFT game anywhere. That's how we’ve achieved whatever little success we have so far, and creating fun is a core value of the studio. It’s what we’ll always focus on.


WE RETAIN FULL CREATIVE CONTROL.
Unlike a publishing deal that would have raised much fewer funds, our investors will not influence the game’s development.


THIS WAS NOT MOTIVATED BY GREED. THE FUNDS WILL ALL GO TOWARDS THE BETTERMENT OF THE GAME.
Due to how NFTs work, the number of NFT cosmetics must be limited to a certain number of copies resulting in fewer overall sales. Those copies can then be traded between players, as they retain full ownership of their NFTs.
If players buy a skin on most games, they cannot trade or sell it back to another player. In EFAS’ new version, this will be possible. You will also be able to sell it on independent marketplaces.

THE BLOCKCHAIN DOESN’T LIE.
(Like Shakira’s hips) Anyone will be able to see all incoming and outgoing transactions the company will make on the blockchain and makes us accountable for all actions.

As we launch our token in the future, the game’s economy will develop and allow some players to earn while playing. This is not a new concept. Established play-and-earn games include CSGO, EVE Online, and Second Life, to name a few. Players will also be able to vote fairly on the game’s direction.

YOUR EXISTING PURCHASES WILL NOT BE AFFECTED.
And we will deliver the items that come with those purchases ASAP.
The NFT version will also allow players to earn from the content they create with UGC (user-generated content) tools in the future.

UGC TOOLS WILL BE FREE FOR EVERYONE.
We now can improve the game beyond our dreams and even faster than we’ve been doing it.

Game updates will continue to be released every two weeks, but you can expect them to have even more content than before as we slowly expand the team. (We say slowly because hiring too quickly might dilute our fantastic culture.)

There’s a long and bright future for EFAS. Let’s continue this journey together and build one of the greatest games ever created.

Basically, EFAS will sell a limited number of items (aesthetics or things which can be obtained in game, whatever that means) which are digitally tracked to people. Then those people will keep and use them until they sell them to someone else using Solana as the currency it sounds like.

Much of the disgust for NFT's is that they resemble a ponzi scheme. The only way to profit or break even is to get someone else to pay for it next. However, this involves (hopefully) items and cosmetics which can be used, so it's not a loss for whoever ends up owning it like a true ponzi scheme would be.

I feel neutral about it personally. It's good for people who get in it early, enjoy the item and then sell it so they break even overall. It's neutral for whoever buys it last because it's basically paying for DLC at that point. And it's bad if someone buys out the market and then sells it at a marked up price or otherwise unfairly manipulates the market to profit at others expense. Guess we'll see how it goes going forward.

My apologies if I got any of it wrong, but that's my take away from this post.

They are making a version without NFTs, it seems. So the Steam version will have no NFTs. The one without NFTs should otherwise be identical, according to the discord.
