Earth From Another Sun

The steam version is NOT an NFT game
PSA:

steam has banned web3 games. the steam version you get is the "normal" version of the game while the launcher from the site is the web3 version. if you dont want to deal with nfts just buy it on steam. according to the games discord/dev there will be two versions that are updated the same but one is regular and one uses nfts. its completely optional and not forced.

What's the point? Are the Steam and Web3 versions going to be hosted on different servers? They wouldn't really be separate otherwise. All that's going to do is split an already tiny community. I can't see a single situation where this goes well aside from the complete removal of them.
The demo is really fun, I was really excited for full release until I saw the NFT tab on their website. I do hope the game is a success, but I won't be putting any money towards blockchain ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in its current state, regardless of intent.
so what about the block chain is everyone so scared of. its cringe and kind of annoying. give me legitimate answers that arent "but the environment" because thats a cheap excuse and not even valid for this game. getting really old hearing people ♥♥♥♥♥ about something they know nothing about.

The Cali far left hates everything about DEFI. So anything even proof of stake crypto in an alternate version is going to get this group up in arms.

easy. name a game that NFT's have contributed anything meaningful to. the game either ends up being a complete scam, or the game is just simply dressing to try and hide the gambling nature of NFT's. I don't care about environmental impact, I care about the impact NFT's have on the game.
So far there's overwhelming evidence that NFT's ruin games, and little to know evidence that they don't. I'd love EFAS to prove me wrong. But until then, I'm not putting a cent towards it. Sucks to say because I really do like the game.
because noones properly implemented this kind of thing yet. theres also no gambling involved with proper nft games? especially not ones like this where you pay once to own the game and everything past that is free. its literally the exact same thing as a player ran auction house in any other game but you can buy stuff with real money and sell stuff for real money. which btw is usually pennies for most nft games so thats not even really a problem anyone can prolly buy just about anything they wanted for less than 5 bucks which is less than what people spend on skins in csgo so. i think the problem is everyone keeps looking at all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and scammy projects and completely ignore there are real legitimate projects out there that do work but never advertise
main reason this hasent really become a thing is most trusted blockchains require transaction fees and take time to transact which break the flow of the game and noones going to pay a dollar everytime they pick up some loot. but finally some blockchains are starting to speed things up and make fees either so cheap they legit dont matter (pieces of a penny for sol which is what this game is using) which is the main reason why alot of nft "games" are just web based browser bs games

problem is. even if people are not actually forced to put money into it. the anti-NFT gang keeps smearing ♥♥♥♥ towards the game without even trying it. they hate it by default and try to force people away from it... also there aren't that many NFT games to begin with, can't feasibly say NFTs ruin games as they can be counted with your fingers. I remember this one pokemon kinda game that said they'd have NFTs and instead bought crypto with the kickstart money. and MIR4 that is quite not dead but full of bots, other than that... i cant remember any other.

thats what im getting annoyed with is everyone is hating on this game because of a completely OPTIONAL part of the game thats not forced in the slighest besides the word "nft" on the website lmao
NFTs are technically safe currency anti-cybertheft currency, most games now a days will use it as normal currency has cost them millions of dollars.
I don't hate that they plan to use NFT's. My impression is that the NFT's will let the early backers make money off of the people who join later. What I do hate is that they are clearly targeting whales with player skins "valued at $150." That's an absurd price by any measure and is the bigger red flag.

i get what your saying forsure early large investors will do better than others but at the end of the day even the devs said this is not play to earn. selling and trading the nfts are just a way to do a player auction house essentially and to be fair thats how most mmos and other games with auction houses go. the first people with the largest coordinated effort/time control certain markets but thats just kinda how it goes sadly its hard to fight that.

and well its a single player/ coop non competitive game so it really doesent matter all that much if someone is loaded full of good troops. if someone wanted to spend 150 dollars on skins in a game they would do it reguardless if its an nft or not. at least if its an nft they can resell it later on if they get lucky and make some money back thats the upside of the nft thing. you can technically sell everything you bought and earned to get your money back and stop playing if you really wanted to. hell you can sell access to the game like your giving a friend a game disc for a couple bucks

kinda the whole idea of nft games is that when your done or bored you can just sell your ♥♥♥♥ and make your money back or maybe profit who knows. which i personally like the idea of. not a game that pays you to play just one that allows you to get some money back when you get bored and dont feel like playing anymore.

or a neat idea would be to have skins for a limited time so they gain collector value. from there you can somewhat control the price by how often your able to get said skin. people cranking the price up to unreasonable amounts? allow it to be unlocked for a week or a couple of days and that will drop the price. if your not gambling on the nfts themselves your being helped out with that

in short its basically csgo skin trading but on the blockchain there isint too much difference there.

Ooooh blockchain fapfapfap.

NFT's only have value if you can convince someone else of that value. What some numpty paid to get an awful looking caricature of an ape or a duck or whatever animal is the current anthropomorphic trend is not relevant until they try and con someone else into buying it.

And NFT's locked into a game that someone can be banned from on the whim of a dev or publisher are going to have even less value because they're not likely to be linked to any other game.

literally an entirely different type of nft your talking about my guy thats the problem with anti-nft people it seems. they automatically assume monkey jpeg. also its hard to get banned from a single player/coop game. but even then thats the best part of the blockchain even if you do get banned you can move it to another account or just sell your ♥♥♥♥ and maybe make your money back unlike a normal game where you get banned and now everything you bought on that acc is now gone forever
