I was like you, review-browser. I saw this program and thought, "..but I have dice, already...."

Then I remembered that you can never have too many dice.

Indeed, those dice can be rolled and you can design your own.

I made a cool black pug die that had some purple glitter on it and it was very "woof" if you know what I mean. I think I'll make some bootleg "Zombie Dice"-dice next to fully test the custom dice feature.

The use of dice notation makes rolling complex rolls easier.

I liked rolling about 750 of those pugs (which is of course 750dPug in notation since of course I named them dPugs) although it was a little hard on my computer but it was woth it.

I'd call it a good tool for... rolling all kinds of dice.

Exactly what it says on the tin. I appreciate the option to make the background solid magenta/blue/green, for chroma keying purposes (this is useful if you want to show your dice rolls as part of a live stream or video).

I've played a few dice-based games where it would've been nice to have custom dice, rather than having to decipher (using a chart) a bunch of numeric rolls into game terms. Sophie's Dice is a powerful tool that can make those types of games easier and more enjoyable to play. Similarly, this will be great for quickly prototyping and testing board games in development.

Really cool little app, I have a feeling I'm only scratching the surface of it. Nice customization. Camera felt a little wonky but once I figured out the controls (check out the documentation when you can) it stopped being a problem. Way more satisfying than using a plain text random number generator!

Also there's a skull that just gives you the result "DEATH" every time you roll it and I love it.

This is an amazing game, it's well worth the price.

This is the best dice roller out there imo. If you need any indication of the attention to detail put into this little app check out sophie on twitter, they chronicle all the updates and work and its honestly awe inspiring.

Sophie's Dice is a fantastic dice rolling program that's anything I ever wanted from a dice roller and then some. All the stuff you'd expect is here - physics-based dice rolling, gorgeous dice with customizable colors and textures, and the ability to put together custom dice bags on a per-character (or just per-game) basis. If that were all it was, Sophie's Dice would be worth the US$5 asking price. But that's just the beginning.

You can choose from a staggering number of dice shape options, tweak the results to be "perfectly fair" (i.e. each side has the exact same chance of coming up) or to have realistic bias. There's also a powerful but simple scripting engine at work here, allowing you to cusotmize individual dice throws to a frankly insane level. Moreover, the dev is continuing with updates, adding additional script functions, dice shapes, and more. It's really a TTRPG fan's (or any tabletop or dice game fan's) dream come true.

There are only a few features that I wish were there that aren't:

• Statistical analysis tools (a la the Troll Dice Calculator [topps.diku.dk]), although indicating the Standard Deviation of each dice shape is a nice touch
  
• Different sounds for different rolling surfaces
  
• The ability to tweak the rolling physics based on dice material (for example, check out the video of these Teflon dice from Artisan Dice [www.artisandice.com]; this is't a promotion, I'm just a fan)

You might notice that none of these have anything to do with actual dice function, just a game design tool that probably isn't practical to impliment, and two cosmetic things that I think would be neat. All the actual functionality you're gonna want from electronic dice is already here, including stuff you've probably never thought of.

Sophie's Dice would be worth the asking price even without such a staggering list of customization options. With them, it becomes the most powerful electronic dice bag I've ever seen by a wide margin, all at a price point below some other less expansive tools. While it's lacking a few things I think would be neat, it absolutely shines as it is, and has completely replaced physical dice for me. I mean, sure, there's something wonderful about the feel of dice in your hands, but literally everything else is just better with Sopie's Dice.

It is very easy to create any kind of dice pool. If you need a die the app does not have, you can create it in a few minutes (seconds, if you do not care how it looks like).

Also, you can roll a pug!

Just buy it. If you are here maybe you are looking for a virtual dice roller or a way to customize dice for prototyping games.
I've never seen so much love and work in an app of this kind in my life.
The visuals, the virtual table, the sounds, the feeling when you roll the dice, the customizing options for the dice and for controlling the app.
So many dice shapes that your head will explode.
And for this price is a no-brainer. I've spent less than half an hour with it and I've jumped to write a review to recommend it.
I REPEAT - JUST BUY IT.

It's the most useless five dollars I've spent, but *god* it's the best dice sim out there. I'd recommend it to any DM who's tired of the boring ol' number generator, but still wants a bunch of variables and formulas to mess around with.
