ai mandatory pit stops
how on earth does the ai consistently pit (at least) twice as fast as the player?

i have mandatory pit stop on, at least 4 tyres need to be changed for it to count. i'm not taking any fuel nor have i any damage, yet i leave the pits dead last regardless of where i was before. i also saw the ai enter, spend as much time as it takes one to sneeze, and leave the pit.

what settings can i fiddle with here noting that i'd really like to keep the mandatory pit stop please?

seems that pitstops in ME is broken for AI.
maybe that's why the team who made it, didn't bother with them at all in PC3...
so many years reiza tries to fix AI pitstops but can't do much, it seems.

working (AI) pitstops, flags, better replays and mid race saves are things reiza needs to focus/ work more, IF there are ways to fix/add them in this (weird) engine.

its a small team with a big project and they have to deal with an engine with major flaws and quirks. not an easy task...
i though, after all these years we know this engine from various titles and 2 different devs, no one would have high expectations from ME
is it a high expectation for pitstops to work properly, one could ask?

Hm, ai stay in pit same time as me. Tested on m1 and stock 99. Some times ai are 2times in pit insted 1times per race. Did you check if he was there 2 times? Maybe he did fuel than tires, or 2 and 2. I do mostly 20+laps if this can affected. Dont know, need more info for more tests.

cheers for this. i do 30 minute races pretty much all of the time and never seen them pit twice. do you have mandatory stop on or do you accelerate fuel/tyre usage?

i've just done 30 minutes around interlagos in gt4 from last. mandatory pit stop (4 tyres), no refuel, no damage. was 10th out of 38 at the time of pit stop, came back last with a massive gap.

So for me is mostly around 60min, and yes mandatory always. And fuel tyre autentic.

Can you tell me difficulty setting. And race settings? As much as accurate possiblel I will try to replicate and may be we figure out something.

hey so i think i did figure out your problem.

test, interlagos gp
gt4 ,gin, race 20lap full grid
ai 88, agr max, mistakes min, dmg scale max. pit 4tyres.

in lap 10 i went in pit with audi, he was at last position, so he started first, and i was on first position so i started couple of sec after him. he clearly finished first and right he drove by me than my pit was done, so i was about 2 sec faster than him. so pits work correct.

maybe, Before you go into pit , at that time many others already been there. so you thought that you overtake them. but than it was time for your pit and the others overtaked you. correct me if im wrong please.

overall it was fun race, im not much in GT-4 but i will definitely do it again with at least 50 laps night day cycle.

i thought this was the case the first couple of times this happened, but no. just done a race, 30 minutes monza in lmp2, all settings as yours except ai at 107. went from 13 to 8 before pit stops - on track, not through others pitting. pit for just tyres, no fuel, no damage, emerged dead last with 12 seconds gap. something is most definitely not right here.
Something something what work for one is not working for the other.
Video showing inputs (and if possible showing AI and player time through pits and stopped at pits) would be better, so far it is being a guessing game of what can be wrong with Dee (and maybe others) that is not being wrong for others and I myself can not tell what could be going on to be wrong.
All I can think o is slowing down too much (not using pitlimiter or using pitlimiter but still going under the limit), slowing down too early (earlier than the pit entry line) or taking far too long to align the car within pit parking location then turning off the engine (what most likely is the case that causes most loss of time in every sim).

ok. just done a 10-minute race and followed a train if ai cars into the pits. they roll in, get lifted, get put back down immediately and continue on their merry way. i.e. they take no time at all, take no fuel, and most importantly, change no tyres at all despite the 4-tyre setting for mandatory pit stop. this is without a shadow of doubt broken.

what can i do here? any recommendations please?

don't use mandatory pits?

appreciate the responses!

after extensive testing on 10 minute races, i have found the problem. my race settings weren't saving for whatever reason. e.g. i turned off mandatory pit stops yet in the actual race they remained on. so i deleted all config / savegame files i could find in documents\ams2, verified game files, set everything back up and now the settings reflect and ai behaves accordingly. weird as i've had the game installed for like 2 years but i guess it is what it is.
