I dont like the calculators they really dont work for me and give me super low FOV numbers like 35. I use 47 right now on ACC lol and for AMS2 I have been using 70
I put close to my measurements in and it says 27.6 for ACC lol.....that would be insane in my opinion.
For AMS2 hfov says 47
Im using a 65 inch tv about 60-65 in (165 cm) away from my face when I sit down in the rig its pretty far still..because its a 65 inch tv it is pretty big and easy to see everything lol.
to get it to tell me 48 is a good FOV for ACC my 65 inch tv would have to be 35 inches this turns out to be 77 hfov to match up ACC to AMS2 so I was not to far off using 70 I felt it was a little to low so I may try 75-77.
Personally I would start between 40-50 on ACC or 70-80 on AMS2 I find 47 on ACC gives lets me see the camber in the corners and elevation changes decent and also a good sense of speed. I think I will go down to 45-46 at some point I have been going back and forth.
I set the fov to 70 on ams2 after some tinkering its close but I probably will go up to 75.
If you find the corners seem super sharp and bunched up maybe your driving past where you think you should brake or even missing the whole corner you probably went to low.
sense of speed goes down on straits with low fov but it feels like your turning a ton in corners and going very fast.
IF the corners seem like there barely corners sort of straighten out and also the hills and elevation is very flat and stretched out between turns you probably went to high.
High FOV gives a good sense of speed but it can feel like the car is not turning as well.
FOV is personal preference you adapt and get used to it the most important thing is that its relatively similar between games so your perspective is not totally different.
Well I edited it a little def a bit confusing
The fov calculator I posted earlier states that AC uses vertical fov (vFOV). A vFov of 52 would for example result in roughly 100 hFov on an 21 by 9 monitor.
Here is also a handy calculator for conversion: https://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc/
Vfov Vertical-AC ACC rfacrtor.
HFov horizontal-AMS2 Project cars 1/2 raceroom
52 on vfov-AC. Is = 82 on hfov -AMS2
If that even means anything lol
Now this is just kind of starting points I would still dial it in to what you like...if that even needs to be said haha
You could try going down to 82 on ams2 and see if it seems closer to the AC experience it may not though.
As far as the math its just a different way of calculating the fov no clue about what the numbers they use are or anything.
just guessing one is using the vertical point for calculations and one is using the horizontal point.
so say your used to 1920x1080 (1080p) monitor resolution notice how one number is almost double the other....one is vertical one is horizontal-horizontal being a bigger number the width..and vertical being smaller the height....
At least from a person that doesnt really know anything and has no education thats how my brain sees it LOL that doesnt mean I'm right.
Hopefully im not to far off or that would be a little awkward but that is my current take.
