Does DLLS work for any VR game?

The game itself must support DLSS.

For VR - if you really want it - I would only use DLSS for upscaiing resolutions (render in low res -> upscale)

DLSS features like 'Frame Generation' or 'Frame Reconstruction' or the new 'Multi-Frame Generation' just introduces lag (even with Nvidia 'Reflex'). And the images become unpredictable.

Instead, invest in a better CPU/GPU and play at native resolution for VR (or good non-VR), imho.

DLSS can help getting better performance, but nothing beats a well optimized game (rendering) engine, which scales up and down the hardware spectrum.

I never talk about Frame Generation which doen't work in VR. I talk about the DLSS4 upscaling which improve FPS without downgrade the resolution in VR.

I use a 4080 GPU and 5800x3D CPU but with very high resolution I feel some limitation.

DLSS4 can help. Just search info about DLSS4 in VR. Even in a well optimized game DLSS4 is usefull.

That could be a considerable sized task with a older game engine that Madness is

yes thats right, its never going to happen and how could Reiza put their time into this kind of thing. If you want the latest VR support look elsewhere you wont find it here.

I would also love this!
Vr is the future flatearthers, I mean flatscreeners :D

LOL the GPU's are barely even out....
Though I have to say it Why spend all that money on hardware just to nerf the visuals?
As for this...?

Yeah it will be when it's available in a pair of shades instead of having a housebrick strapped to your head, Seriously though that's just my opinion.
No argument at all about the immersion side of things, VR brings a whole new level there but me? I'll be chasing a motion rig before adopting VR.
I'm doin just fine on my 57" 240Hz G95NC panel with 134ppi, 120 degree FOV at my viewing distance and getting ~120-138 avg fps on my 7900XTX thanks...
Set this to run at YT's 8K settings, fps counter bottom left, got within 1.3 seconds of the current lap record and would be 3rd fastest in this car...

As for DLSS FSR RTX etc...? Until the hardware is TRULY capable of running at max settings native resolution I'll take lowering in game settings over upscaling or fake frames any day of the week.

How about DLSS support regardless of VR?
I don't use VR but still very much want DLSS.

Do we even need the 5000 series GPU?
I tested DLSS 4 on DOOM ETERNAL with a 3000 series RTX card and it works just fine.
By default the game uses DLSS 2.3, I had to swap it out for DLSS 4.

With DLSS, the removal of shimmer/aliasing/jaggies is just as important as any performance improvement.

Lower in game settings all you want or set to max, either way with native 4K resolution the shimmer/aliasing/jaggies is still way worse than if we had DLSS.

Super Sampling is the only anti aliasing solution that does anything significant in this game and the performance hit is insane.
I limit SS to 2X(low)

MSAA would be good but it doesn't do any anti aliasing of the shadows.
You need the super sampling for that.

Moreover, the aliasing issue with shadows is mostly time of day.
Specifically, that time where maximum amount of shadows are cast across the track surface. For example, 4 or 5 pm at Watkins Glen.
The amount of shimmer/aliasing/jaggies is too much without super sampling regardless of native 4K resolution.

I doubt they will ever add DLSS to this game but they totally should.

It would be nice but not necessary. Game has very good performance already and that effort could be better invested elsewhere

Not enough with high resolution and ultra graphics. Everyone doesn't have 4090 or higher.
And anyway it's never useless. More is always better.
The good way is to let the choice to the players.
I just got the game today, spent 5 hours in VR, and it's the smoothest VR racing experience out of any I've played before, even with everything at high or ultra. Absolutely amazing! (i7-13700K, RTX 4080, Quest 3)
Upscalers are for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Nativ resolution is always the best.
Not going to happen. Reiza is a very small team. They don't have the capacity to add DLSS4 support. Luckily VR runs very well as is, even on lower end hardware.
