Any way to force traction control and ABS on Formula cars?
Hello everybody, new player here. I've been playing Project Cars 2 for a long time and I randomly came across AMS2 while browsing the Steam Winter Sale. I was amazed by its Formula car lineup and I read that it runs on the same engine as PC2 and is generally an improvement on it (unlike PC3...) and I was wondering if there is a way use traction control and ABS on Formula cars the same way as in PC2? I don't have a wheel (and don't have the budget to buy one) so I play with an Xbox One controller.

If I remember correctly, isn't one of the gameplay settings to have traction control and ABS on and then if low or high? Check that out, I am not in game so I cannot check but I think that is the case. It will apply to all cars, not just the formulas

yeah but it doesn't do anything if the car doesn't already have that system. In PC2 it overrides the car and enables it so you to use it even if the car doesn't have it. Here I can only use it if the car already has that system by the looks of it. So because Formula Reiza doesn't have any "electronics" I simply can't use the ABS or traction control, like I did with Formula A in PC2. That's what I want to solve somehow

It does work my friend. Go into the Gameplay Menu, and switch "Driving Assists Allowed" to On. Then Turn on ABS/SC/TC to either Low or High.
Then go into The Controls Menu, then into Edit Assignments and then Assistance.
Map Keys to ABS/SC/TC, this will allow you to cycle between low/high/off, while in the car.

Yeah I have set it to full, and I also set ABS and TC to high, but the traction control still doesn't prevent the car from spinning out if I apply the throttle too quickly when coming out of the corner. I have to be much more careful about throttle control than in PC2 which is not easy with a controller. In PC2 if you set ABS and TC to on, all cars had the option to set the percentage of them in the setup menu, but in AMS2 Formula cars don't have that option even if I turn them on in the settings.

Are you in timetrial mode? I think that overrides to real car settings, I guess for leaderboard reasons.

No, I'm in Test Day

Sounds to me like you are just going to have to adapt to the ABS/TC settings in AMS2 not being as effective as in PC2. With the recent huge tyre update maybe Reiza needs to adjust the strength of the driver aids to match the more aggressive slip.

You mean tires didn't use to slip this much?

No, the previous builds had a very shallow slip curve to the tyres, the cars would slide a lot when cornering before losing total grip. You could abuse the slip angle of the tyres and not be punished. The latest update gave them a much more peaky slip curve, to try and make them feel more realistic.

Damn. Well I hope they turn TC and ABS up to compensate, because I really have a hard time with it on controller

That will be the case for all sims, pc2 is very arcade... Save up and get yourself a cheap wheel, $150, even that will be a million times better then controller and welcome to the wonderful world of siming!:steamhappy:

As I stated in my original post, I don't have the budget for a wheel at the moment. And for PC2: the game being enjoyable with a controller makes it arcade? That's a hard disagree from me.

Yup, arcade racers will always disagree with the idea of wheels, but show me any pro racer that races sims with a controller?? Max V doesn't, he wins in iRacing with a wheel. Sim = Realistic, if cars were easy to drive with a controller in real life with the same lack of assists, I think people would be using controllers... The ONLY reason arcade racers are fun with a controller is because of all the assits. Sooooooooooo, since people use steering wheels = easier to drive, more precise and so on. With Sims, assists is cheating, hence they get turned off with online races.

Good luck, maybe there's a controller mod somewhere, but save up for that wheel or lower the AI difficulty by a lot... I've heard of a few guys pulling off controllers with sims but they still tend to be much slower...:lunar2019grinningpig:

I wonder why they all have affiliated and sponsored programs with corporation that sells you thousands dollar equipment. No relation at all.

Anyway, you have no idea what you are talking about and the op would have better time to just ignore you. See you on track, most likely way behind, several laps down and probably punting other people off with your arrogance and level 0 account.
Thank you! It's apparent that he doesn't actually want to help at all, he just wants to recite the age old "hEh YoU NoOb wHy dOn't YoU gEt A WhEel?" argument, which everyone has heard at least a thousand times at this point. As if it were that easy to get the right setup.
