* Reflections
These are two that play a big role in how things are reflected off wet surfaces and how much detail. If you haven't tried lowering those, give it a shot.
I have both AMS2 and Project Cars 2 installed on my computer. I play them both in VR. Both of them have the same issue with shadows causing a massive drop in fps and stutters when all of the cars have their headlights on.
There is still some drop in performance even with shadows disabled, but it is nowhere near as bad as when they are enabled.
Turning shadows off was the biggest performance boost I got in both games.
Agreed, but I was referencing the issues with rain. Grass and shadows are performance issues outside of rain as well.
For what they are, shadows can be pretty complex. When you add in multiple light sources (headlights) for the calculations, you end up with a lot of CPU and GPU effort constantly when the shadows are dynamic.
