That is possible but it will default to the first car in the list and only that car is available (the BMW) if not don't know sorry, custom championships are very buggy.
2) Click Edit Championship,
3) Click on Vehicle Classes.
4) Click on all car classes you wish to include GT3 + GT4, deselect any that are currently shown that you DON'T want e.g. F3.
5) Back out to Start New Championship page.
6) Click Select Vehicle, you'll now have the correct classes of cars, Choose your weapon.
7) Click start.
I suspect you were expecting all cars to be available in the Select Vehicle tab but you have to select the classes before selecting which car you wish to race in.
Bit annoying that this isn't explained in some way (or highlighted when you enter each new page), so it's easy to miss and leads to frustration...
In other words, your step 6 does nothing.
Everything works fine in single race mode. but I'm getting a bit bored of that. I know how to set up a race, I know how to select a car. The problem is the button literally doesn't do anything when inside a championship but it will let me do it in single race. I'm using the same car class, it's not part of any DLC as far as I can tell and I only have the base game. No point getting DLC if something so basic doesn't work.
Maybe I'll try slot 3 if I could be bothered.
It's either a bug or horrible UI design or both, but I guess if I don't touch anything I finally have the setup I want. I just hope it stays that way and I won't be trying a different car class again any time soon.
The GT3 gen 2 are DLC cars so if you don't own the DLC you can't use the car.
Only GT3 Gen 1 is free to base game owners.
You CAN use all DLC tracks in championship though, the tracks are only locked if you try single race, test day and time trial modes.
Endurance DLC notes... £8.99 atm for the pack.
"The initial pack of ultimate Endurance racing cars featuring four new GT3 Gen2 cars along with three LMDh Hypercars.
Two of the new GT3 Gen2 are as per their names evolutions of the existing Gen1 models - the Mercedes AMG EVO and the McLaren 720S EVO, together with the brand new BMW M4 GT3 and the Porsche 992 GT3-R.
The LMDh Hypercars in turn represent the new leading Endurance prototype class which made its debut in this year´s race to immense success, with exciting cars and a competitive field full of new contenders. Endurance Pack Pt1 features three of these contenders: The Porsche 963, the Cadillac V-Series.R and BMW M Hybrid V8, which didn´t race in this year´s Le Mans but did make its debut across the pond racing in the 2023 IMSA championship."
The UI is indeed a pain in the butt, if you mistakenly move the mouse near the car list it'll select the closest car to the mouse pointer..
There's a big blue star beside all DLC content in the game. Both tracks and cars. Just not in championship mode when selecting car classes.
Though being a member of the Beta testing group, I'll be sure to pass your raging rant onto the devs and suggest they mark all classes with DLC only content with the blue star as well as the individual cars and tracks to avoid future confusion.
Reiza chose to allow ALL players access to DLC tracks in championship modes as many people enjoy creating real world championships.
They also until recently would put an entire class in a DLC bundle (Those DLC cars that don't adhere to this rule are the Brazilian legends car pack, cars driven in F1 by Nelson Piquet, and Ayrton Senna).
This means there's only 6 classes of cars with a single DLC car in those groups, the 6 eras covering the Brazilian legends bundle...
Two cars driven my Emerson Fittipaldi were already in the base game before Reiza secured the licenses for the 6 cars actually in that pack.
This allowing access online to DLC tracks also means you won't get kicked from an online lobby just because you don't own Monza, Silverstone etc.
The ONLY way this will happen is if they select only DLC cars, e.g. GTE and GT3 Gen 2 only, if the GT3 Gen 1 are included then fine but you're restricted to GT3 Gen 1, anything else would immediately devalue the DLC content for those who've bought it.
For instance I joined a Le Mans (DLC) race just this evening including LMDh (DLC), GTE (DLC), GT3 Gen 2 (DLC) and GT3 Gen 1 cars, there were 2 in LMDh, 6 in GTE's and 4 players in GT3 gen 1 but no one using GT3 Gen 2 cars, so if those 4 people in GT3 Gen 1 had no DLC's they STILL got to race at Le Mans as the host added GT3 Gen 1 and because two thirds of the lobby HAD paid for the DLC cars.
Were they WHINING about it? Nope they enjoyed a 4 way GT3 race at a DLC track...
General consensus among players before Reiza began releasing DPC tracks (Yes Reiza actually ASKED our opinions on this), was that allowing access to DLC tracks made sense as it doesn't divide players as much as other titles "Pay up or F**K off!" attitude does. Though players balked at the idea of allowing access to the DLC cars because reiza intended to have DLC classes rather than unicorn cars behind a paywall.
Several other games that make use of the even worse tactic of "Here have a few free (to pleb freeloaders) yet, completely s**t cars but, if you want to win races in that class? Pay the piper or remain a loser!"..
This means in MOST car groups, 59 out of 80 in total, non DLC owners have access to ALL the cars in that class instead of just the worst cars in that class, a further 6 groups have a single car as DLC's amongst them, the rest you can use.
Of those 6 cars only 3 could be classed as OP or "unicorn cars" btw..
I can't think of another game that allows you to access DLC tracks if you don't actually own the specific DLC.
In total there are 56 DLC cars out of 209 in total, leaving you 153 other cars you DO have access to.
You have 108 completely unrestricted tracks and a further 80 that you're only locked from using either in single race, test day and in time trial mode.
So you essentially get 80 tracks for free in championship mode and online races because of all of us who DID buy the DLC bundles allowing Reiza to negotiate more tracks and cars (including some cars for the base game in most updates too I might add).
In most other games it's pay up or get shut out if the host picks a DLC track.
So you get all that free access to 80 DLC tracks and choose to b***h about not being allowed to use a class of cars in championship mode because they're DLC?
The game allows mutliclass racing you know, THAT'S Why you could choose the DLC cars in the 1st place..
If you didn't KNOW the DLC is marked then your frustration is perfectly understandable.
Yet using that as an excuse for trashing the devs for YOUR lack of knowledge is just laughable especially as almost every other game with DLC's will show said DLC content in the options SPECIFICALLY to entice you into buying it. Do you rant at those developers for denying you access to THEIR paid content?
Getting your knickers in a knot and throwing a tantrum over it is even more laughable.
Two of us SPECIFICALLY asked if you had the required DLC and only when I mentioned the specific DLC pack by name, you instantly throw your rattle out of the pram in disgust...
Definitely a nut behind the wheel problem rather than a game/developer problem here...
No blue stars anywhere. I only see tracks included in the base game, no DLC tracks there at all. There are so many categories of cars and I have no idea which ones I own so I never plan to explore them any further. I certainly don't want to muddy the waters even further by adding more complexity to the situation
If you think that was a rant you are a very delicate flower who has led an extremely sheltered existence. I'll never understand why people gatekeep like you are, I would have though that the game would benefit from the widest audience possible.
Anyway, I can get my occasional fix of Donnington and Brands Hatch and be glad I never sunk any more money into it.
As to the rest of your post, I didn't read past the first paragraph because I've already wasted enough time with this.
As I mentioned I've passed on your complaint to the devs on their own forums.
What I call ranting is ignoring or not reading when 2 people SPECIFICALLY asked if you had the DLC that includes the GT3Gen 2 cars.
Then raging that YOUR mistake or unwillingness to learn this game and how it operates is the fault of the developers, even after it's been explained in detail WHY they chose that path.
Then going on to admit you chose to ignore ANY further explanation through sheer pique and an attitude the size of a house.
You want rants? You should see some of my posts on the FM forums and steam discussions, at least MINE are based on facts AFTER I've tried to LEARN to resolve my issues, at east they're based on FACTS and not ignorance...
As for "gatekeeping"? Not really, trying to answer your question just to have you rage about the answer.
The game DOES benefit from the path Reiza chose to take though, by providing players access to DLC tracks to all players.
If you choose ignorance and complacency? You only have yourself to blame for your disappointment, NMFP....
We've TRIED to at least help you and you've chosen to lambast the devs and myself for YOUR lack of knowledge and now refuse to learn how the game functions?
Old adage applies here "You can lead a Horse to water but you can't make it drink..."
