The best mods youre gonna find are by Xela1. I can't offer a link, but discord and AMS2 mod channels are your friend.

He has a few different mods, but these 4 are as good if not better than anything Reiza makes you pay for,

Don't forget Thunderflash's mods, especially his last JGTC mod which I consider as one of the best mods for AMS2. Also Indycar 2023 by KAOS is even better than Reiza's original series.

Also 4 on the Floor makes some superb mods, 2016 Ford Fusion Nascar, 66 Mustang and 69 Camaro Nascars, Ferrari 365GTB, all excellent.

i dont think you understood the question.

the mods car models you are using are illegally ripped from other games, thats why you cant find them on racedepartment and have to be hosted on the mod makers own web site.

what i want to know is, are the mod makers writing their own physics files for each car mod so the handling is unique to that car or are they just copy and pasting physics files from the Reiza cars?
which afaik would involve direct communication to the cars real manufacturer for important info such as suspension geometry, brakes sizes and performance, exact chassis sizes and strengths. all on a FREE mod, which i very much doubt is happening.

i have already found one of the mod sites you mention admit the sound files are just copy and pasted from the Reiza cars and i strongly suspect thats whats happening with the physics. so i am asking people that have used these mods, do the cars feel different to a similar Reiza car or are the lap times and feel of the car just the same with a different skin?

I strongly suspect that some modders aren't just your average Joe. In particular, there is a modder for AMS1 who has legendary mods, unlike any other modder has brought to the table for AMS1. The physics alone outpace every other AMS1 paid car.

The AMS2 mods are definitely ripped from PC2 and they say so. What they might be doing is adjusting the physics. I dont know.

All I'm saying is that they feel just as good of not better. For instance, try the Renault GT3 mod from Xela1. Then tell me which Reiza car you think he ripped the physics from, and we can compare.

I downloaded content manager and a number of mods this morning for the first time, made sure it worked by running a few laps of four on the floor 2016 nascar around fontana. Much easier than I expected, actually. Looking forward to trying others tonight! (the 2016 ford was great on the few laps that I ran, by the way!)
