Enjoy your negative review Reiza, you've earned it.
AMS2 only runs peripheral detection during initial game loading.
If you unplug the wheel or it disconnects for any reason you'll need to restart the game for this exact reason.
When assigning steering controls you MUST turn and recenter the wheel in around 1 second or you'll get nothing happen, do this too slowly and you'll get "multiple inputs detected", you don't NEED to goto full lock, 90 degrees and back is enough, you then need to use in game calibration process to get it to recognise your selected degrees of rotation.
Pedals are similar, stamp and release, stamp & hold nothing happens, too slow? "Multiple inputs detected" error.
AMS2 has a known issue that can rarely cause the game to lose or forget your wheel, usually after a major update but not always, it's happened to me 3-4 times now on both my old T300 & CSL DD since the game launched.
It's also been known that the above fixes don't work, try switching USB ports.
If the game still won't pick up your inputs try the "generic direct drive" or "custom wheel" profiles, I had this on my T300..
Hope this'll help get you back to racing instead of tearing your hair out in frustration..
wait, did you blame OP and his PC for that issue?
if yes, can you name another sim or even simcade like AMS2 is IMHO, that have similar issues on PC?
FYI, its a madness engine issue, PC2 had it too.
unfortunately, reiza needed to tackle a lot of these long time issues in ME, they have fix a lot of things but it seems that a lot of bugs and other stuff need too much work and recourses to be fixed and no one knows if its worth to do it.
maybe a big (and real) dev like codemasters (who owns ME now AFAIK) can work and fix some of these bugs, but it seems that they are not interested to invest on it or use it in one of their next games.
I bet this is a Dev right here, they are so in denial they regularly attack players for mentioning their broken mess.
If you are VR and have certain type of gear and are an old fart AMS2 is for you.
A typical AMS2 player is in total denial that the game is a broken mess. Even years later, the same stupid issues remain, and the fan base is in total denial still. Mine works is not an answer, ffs.
Triple screen setup: A Broken Mess, a long-standing issue they refuse to fix
The in-game camera settings are not only broken but need a ton of work. The camera shake, for instance, is disgustingly bad. Quad monitor setups do not work with AMS2; you have to turn your top screen off to run triples.. Neither do button boxes;, they just don't detect at all.
That's just sad. That's a large chunk of actual competitive Sim racers right there, just a middle finger to us. They do not care about you at all, guys, not one bit.
Pedal detection: A Broken Mess, it is like it is from a game from the early 2000's and simply cannot be set properly as a proper Sim should. They refuse to fix it after years.
Wheel detection: Broken, same as the pedals, only much worse, it's like binding a game in the 2000s as well, it's a joke. Again, a long-standing issue for many players that they refuse to fix.
My small exp in a league for a season. Not one race we did went by without multiple competition issues.
Timing and scoring routinely mess up the race order and finish order.
Pit stops are a total craps shoot as to whether it will give you the correct tires or any at all etc "totally broken effected almost all of us at one point or another".
BOP in this game is not a thing; cars in the same class are so far off balance of performance that any real competition is a total waste of time.
One car to the next is also a craps shoot all the cars with down-force are so far off its a joke they all feel terrible.
Setups disappearing before a race, buttons just not working, it all goes on and on, whether in practice or randomly in-game.
The #1 issue with this game is the fans in denial who would not know a competitive Sim if it fell on them. The fans and the developer refuse to admit it has been a broken mess from day one and remains a broken mess.
This Title has so much potential, and when it gets parts right, it is truly something special, but it rarely gets anything right.
However, it has been difficult to play a season (I only play offline in racing sims).. some of the things already mentioned here.. weird scoring bugs, AI taking lines directly into walls.. or sometimes just stopping on the track.. my AI co-driver going out and coming back after just a few laps, ruining my race..I don't remember this problem 2 years ago.
I would prefer a focus on these issues as opposed to providing more content.. we have enough stuff ..
Wish it was a bit easier to get it to work. Like at least some generic fallback or something idk. Even some Indie Unity games have better working wheel support albeit less detailed.
Other than that it worked everytime I fired the game up even yesterday when I got my Asetek Forte to replace it with and did back to back tests.
