Base version

Hello, does the base version have enough content to play alone, or would I have to buy the entire version? I found the DLCs a little expensive.

Yeah it does, summat like 100+ cars and 70+ tracks.
Also bear in mind, you're not booted from multi-player if the host selects any of the dlc tracks, so long as they have non dlc cars included in the session you'll be able to play.
Reiza made the choice to allow non dlc owners access to the tracks in MP & championship modes (in MP you can't host a session there but you CAN join an open lobby with any non dlc cars).
So you're only excluded from using DLC cars in all game modes, and, dlc cars from time trial, test day, and single race modes.

I notice that the vehicles are MOD. The cars become very slippery on the rear axle after a few laps.
What can you do?

What vehicles are mod? (or what mods you installed?)
Base game dont come with any mods.
If car becomes very slippery after a few laps try to abuse less of the tyres when turning, drive more gently (not on time trial or qualify pace or driving style) and tyres will not wear so fast.

Then it is up to the mod team to verify, still, abusing less of the tyres may result is tyres surviving better for longer.

the megane needs softer rear dampers and a little more rear downforce. they are an animal to tame but can be tamed a bit to make them less crazy

Wait for anyone sale.
Or look on humblebundle dot com slash store.
They have a good sale. Up to 90% under regular prizes.
Steam isn´t the only platform.
