Anyway, AMS2 has gotten significantly better on controller since update 1.5v Update, physics/handling is little more Arcadeish but I don't mean that on a bad way.
Before I couldn't drive some cars on Default Setup because it was very difficult, DTM car was one for example, I had to make changes to setup not necessarily focusing on speed but so the car was controllable and stable with controller inputs. But since Update 1.5 I join races that are forcing Default Setups and car is well planted.
So yes, you can have a lot of fun playing AMS2 using a controller, I am using RAZER WOLVERINE V2, but if I was buing new one I'd likely buy obe that allows you to replace thumbsticks for longer ones as it gives you more precise inputs.
Needless to say, any temptation I had of buying a racing rig wheel/pedals etc... have been diminished since Update 1.5v
Hope this helps, if you need any help with in-game controller settings, reach out and I'll happily share anything with you.
Also on the side note, if you do choose to buy and play the game, check out JustRACE Multiplayer platform for AMS2...

AMS2 Vanilla Multiplayer system is not that good, so JustRACE really elevates that aspect of the game.
Cheers!
Buy it when on sale, I paid $45 for mine with all DLC content, including Season Pass which gives you all DLC automatically free.
When you think about it, this game is cheap regardless, but on sale you can really get it dirt cheap.
I thank you!
Hope you will set up JustRACE account and join us in AMS2 Events and Championships, DTM Championship starts tonight at 9pm EST...

Give it a go PeteR, it would be great to see you on track with us and have a fellow controller user ;)
I too like GT3s it was my favorite and most used car in AMS2 from the start, since update 1.5 I really enjoy DTMs as well though.
By the way, the game is available in this bundle which is why I was curious about it: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/ultimate-racing-sim-bundle-victory-lap#
I have the Razer Wolverine V2 too, but I can't seem to get the feel for Automobilista 2 with this controller.
I avoided races where default car setups are forced because it was difficult to keep the cars stable, biggest issue was oversteer. This has improved since update 1.5 but I still like to make setup adjustments so controller inputs aren't as sensitive, especially on throttle, when exiting corners. However... this unfortunately does mean I am sacrificing some performance and lap time, but I still rather drive a balanced and controllable car even though it's slower than a fast car but not very stable car.
Even better since 1.5 as Cars dont slide randomly anymore. And the overall Handling is better
