What have they done to the A.I?
I have been debating for a while on whether to create this discussion or not. But surely I can't be the only one experiencing this problem.

Is it just me, or have recent updates just made A.I racing almost impossible?

I have had this game since launch, and have always been able to race against the A.I quite comfortably at 100% skill and Maximum aggression.

In the early days, they were very easy to beat. No challenge at all actually. But with every update they have been gradually getting harder. Which I am fine with. But with this latest update, they just feel a bit broken to me.

I watch them as I am trying to overtake them, and they are weaving all over the place, bottoming out and almost spinning their cars but never losing it, always unrealistically snapping the rear of the car back into place. And they seem to now more than ever just follow a set "path" and God forbid you try and get in the way of that, if you strategically try and nudge them off line they will just drive straight through you and have you off.

They also now seem to now pretty much be un-moveable objects. I have recently been conducting experiments to confirm this. I have been tapped into the rear and always been sent into the barrier, but if you give a little "rubbing is racing" back to them, they are like driving into blocks of concrete. I have literally on an oval track tried driving alongside a car and gradually turning into them to try and force them off line and spin them but they just do not budge at all.

All of this is making my offline custom championships near on impossible to do. I am just having incident after incident through no fault of my own. Even changing the difficulty levels from 100% and Maximum aggression to as low as 85% and Low aggression does not seem to curb this problem.

Does anyone have any advice as to whether Reiza have accidentally done something that they might fix in the future? Or whether it is just an issue my end and there might be something I can do to improve the experience again?

I first started noticing something was wrong when they first added Ovals and it has gradually been getting worse with time.

What do you guys think? Is it just me, or has the game genuinely been broken somehow?

Hard to say, I started to play more few weeks back and AI is amazing. I don't think they would change so many things at once just with some tuning.

I haven't driven with the AI in AMS2 for a couple of months.

But.

The AI is broken in this sim and all the car sims I drive (AC, ACC, rFactor2) and in the simcades too. It's like the developers are trolling those of us that don't want to (or can) drive with other people.

LOL, AMS2, rF2 and ACC have all great AI. I play offline exclusively and no problem. Depends on the usage for sure as well.

For me the ai is good enough. They don't ram me of the track or pit maneuve me like in ACC. Only thing ai sucks at is multiclass racing. They just cant overtake a slower car and are stuck behind them for way to long. I hope they can fix that in later updates.

For me the AI is better than ever. They remain far superior to race with than 99% of human opponents. Rarely if ever rammed from behind or side swiped for no reason.

Many times that depends on car/track combo and user skill. I am not an alien or any good at all (I struggle with skill 100 AI in all sims) so I often wind up middle of the pack at best. My experience with all the above mentioned AI is that they lack proper racecraft skill. They may be fast on their own or when driving in a 'train' but when they need to account for anything that upsets their set code and set path, especially from humans, they often tend to do weird stuff which might be race ending for the human driver.

For example the AI spinning a human player out in brake zones or spinning them out when accelerating out of corners just because the player uses a different line due to for example defending. And I've seen the same behaviour in all mentioned sims. But then again, players online have the same behaviour...

The truth is that they are blind as bats if the player veers off the trodden path.

AMS 2's AI behaviour is the better of them, but still not good, and it is far too uneven, brilliant one moment - you can get some great races - and disgraceful the next. Their wet track speedhacking on dries comes to mind plus the things the OP mentioned.

I agree with RubyDragon949. AI can sometimes be very good but it seems like more and more I'm getting drove into the side and bounced off the track while the AI goes on unscathed.

its so bad as ever......i drive only formula one....pack racing in free practice, qualifying.....race.....up to 6 cars battle in qualifying ...it is so unreal.....the are pushing permant.....and on a 1 minute 30 sec course the spread is up to 8 seconds from first to last--totaly rubbish.......on some sectors, some corners they are all so slow, all drive the same nonsense, all cars.....they dont working on the A.I.!!!!!!!!!!!!time of waste the A.I. races .....formula 1

I thought they improve the AI on the latest update. The AI is not following each other on a straight line like a bunch of robots. And they avoid colliding with you from behind or making drastic jerky lateral movements. Their positions on the track is all over the place, which is great to see...not so much a straight boring line every time.

Even the most recent update, 1.5.3, they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. I can't get a practice session with the entitlement of them coming out of any pit lane exit right into my car. THEN, they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ race me into the turns like its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ final lap in a practice session. I can't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ understand the lack of testing they have in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sim for the AI in general when most Online racing you can get is in league racing with finding groups in timezones that match. It's impossible to enjoy with them and now forced with the AI you have multiplayer issues where the AI dont have respect for anyone's space other than the host.
I am astonished by the lack of care to the multiplayer AI and AI in general when looking into these extremely easy things to find as it's constant in every race I am in, single player or multiplayer. It drives me up a wall trying to get enjoyment for more than a lap until the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at medium aggression and 110 difficulty, they drive like its just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ them and its so old so quick.
I just want to be able to enjoy racing with friends with AI to make it more interesting, not make me want to break my entire sim rig because you cant test out cars with AI unless you want to get treated like you dont exist. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fuming.
