Thrustmaster TS-XW question
Just got a TS-XW and I had a question for those that have one about a "buzzing" sensation when fighting high forces (basically resisting the motor). If you are at your desktop and turn your wheel to the max (either direction) you will get resistance and a buzzing sensation from the wheel if you try and force it further. I know this is normal when doing this but in game when actually driving and fighting strong forces it also happens and seems odd. Just wondering if it's normal or not. I have a week left to return it if this isn't normal. Any help would be appreciated. It happens in all games anytime there is extreme resistance.

it sounds like an issue with your wheel if its happening in all games. i have a TGT-II which is basically the XW underneath and never encountered this issue.

it might be worth lowing the ffb and seeing if that make any difference.

I assume it has to do with the damping being so high since that provides the resistance. I just don't know why it would have a setting that high if the motor can't handle it. Just wondering if it happened to other people with really strong settings. If it does I'll keep it but if it doesn't I'll have to send it back.

Does it happen if your TM control panel settings are all set to max? I was thinking that may be the issue but even if it is, it seems weird that it would have a setting so high that the motor can't handle it.

i have dampening set to 0. if you set it to 0 you allow the sim your using to dictate the weight of the wheel rather then thrustmasters software.

It doesn't do it with dampening off. I'm just wondering if it's normal to buzz when dampening is at max or really high. It seems to be in resistance to the motor when fighting extreme forces like I said before. If it's normal I'm okay with it. Just wondering what happens when other people try it so I know if it's normal or not. Thanks.

Turning off dampening doesn't really stop it but turning down forces does. My TX does it as well at max forces (even more) but it's a lot less pronounced and not as intusive when driving (I assume because it's a weaker motor). My only thought is that it's weird to spend 700 dollars if I have to make it exactly the same strength as the TX in order for it to feel proper. It has some other positive features like having way quicker response and the external power supply but if it has to be at the same strength and feedback as the TX anyway it seems a bit pointless.

Hey man, I’m having the same issue, did you figure out if this was normal? I’ve been asking so many people but they don’t know what I’m talking about lol
