IS AMS2 better than Assetto Corsa?
I'm looking for something with better graphics and sounds. I am currently using AC with sol+csp and mods of course. Will AMS2 give me a better experience?

What you are asking is highly subjective and everyone has their own opinion. Better graphics, yes. Better sounds, yes. Better driving experience? A lot of people have their complaints about AMS2. I enjoy both sims. AMS2 is my go to sim at the moment.

If you have money to burn, I'd definitely recommend AMS2. If not, it's probably better to stick with AC. AMS2 is pretty pricey.

Personally, I'm not a fan of frankensteining video games to get a favourable experience. I'd rather that the game is presented well with content/features/etc. right out of the box from the developers themselves.

But yeah, it's definitely a subjective thing. I won't say AMS2 is better, but I prefer it because of the content and features that the game has to offer without the need of modding, and the game has a great chase cam and controller support, as well as competitive AI (though it might be a bit flawed in a few areas). I can't say much about the physics because I'm not very hardcore.

AMS2 is my goto as well right nwo, but you can get the full AC with all DLC for very cheap if there is a sale and there are a lot of mods.

Assetto Corsa is a open system modding, AMS 2 is closed and does not allow cars or tracks from the community two different racing sims.

Its a great sim. Might not be what rF2 or AC is, but there are things which make it unique and it is worth trying it for those.

Also new update is coming out soon, with masisve physics overhaul. So this mighy be a great time to jump in on it.

As everyone else stated, this is subjective. Both are great sims. I own them both. I love AC because of all the mods. I can drive up the Transfagarsan mountain in a Jeep if I want to :)... race pretty much in any series I want to, and the Championship mode is very good. I think that the online is more populated in AC than in AMS2.. Lot of players just driving around some of the tracks/highways. The only downside is getting all of the mods, which takes some work (weather, night/day, etc.).
AMS2 (to me) feels fresher, I like the sound, and it has things like weather built in. Championship mode is still a work in progress, you can't really mod it (add tracks, etc.).. but in some way I like a game that I just load up and go.. no tracking down this mod and that mod, finding out which shader patch to use to avoid a black sky lol.. etc... And it has so many different cars already built in.
On my somewhat older system, (and I'm not sure why), AMS2 runs great. AC Competizion is a slide show..
I will jump in to AC to run on some odd track or highway just for fun..maybe even online.. and I plan on playing AMS2 for Championship mode (offline).. although I must say that recently I was in a couple of very good online AMS2 races... it's just not my normal mode of play.
Sorry if it's confusing, but why not purchase both, try them out for an hour or two and see which you like?

You ideally want both (AC for Content Manager/mods)

Ams2 for latest decent sim

I uninstalled AC after one game in AMS2

The modding ability is the only advantage AC has over AMS2, imho. Maybe physics as well, but I'm not hardcore enough to notice.

To me, AC looks very dated - even with sol+csp - with bland, repeated textures. The weather effects in AMS2 are incredible, and are used in a way that ensures no two races are ever the same. Only "bad" thing I notice in AMS2 are the 2D trees, which look a bit weird.

Oh - and AMS2 worked out of the box for me with both my G29 and my Valve Index (VR), where AC was a lot more cumbersome.

Physics and ffb its on another level in AMS 2 as well the weather system. For my tastes with the latest update its the best in class

As AC guy, I have AMS 2 now as well, and when CART\Indycars of 1995-2000 are now becoming reality, with ability to mod AI names and skills, of course, I have bought AMS2. One of the first features - "Weather slots" setting up is really great thing.

sorry to be a little offtopic, but how is trueforce in this game?

AMS is most def my go to, especially now! a big reason is the A.I. its way better than AC or any other sim out there right now.
Lucas80 Nov 29, 2021 @ 3:05am
i havent played AC since i got into AMS2 about a month ago, they are both good but both have different content, i wouldnt really say one is better than the other

but AMS2 is newer so the graphics are nicer, it seems to have better performance aswell, alot of people say the FFB is better (personally i like it more) but i think that is more of a personal preference that a fact, i will say AMS2 is ALOT easier to setup than AC

I've seen my friend play it and he has a nice racing rig and powerful machine for this. Even at max settings I find the graphics not that great. For one, I can clearly see the ground textures are blurry, especially if you look out in the distance. This is uncalled for in a modern day game/sim. The graphics still needs improvement on that aspect. Even Gran Turismo 7 and Forza Horizon 5 on the console looks a lot better. There's no reason a powerful PC should be behind when it comes to the graphics. That's a huge let down for me.

AC just has so much content that it does take a little time to get round it with content manager. but once you do you can be hooked. The way the car handles is much better in AC. Try a car by Pessio or RSS and make the same comparison with AMS2. You can't. Although i feel the new update is getting there with some cars having solid feel and precise FFB i think the handling on many of these seems too arcadey for me.
AMS2 has better graphics with excellent use of weathering and time. Track selection in AC is huge with over 300 tracks on my hard drive. Its not a question about quantity over quality though as i feel AC has some awesome track mods.
AMS2 is getting there and the latest update is the best yet. And with the right car it is as enjoyable as any sim out there. But the veterans of the tried and tested will always play AC. And the figures show this.
