That one is supported by the Madness engine. If you have the following:

That one is not supported and appears as a gamepad to the Madness engine. You can configure it "as a gamepad" but then it will have dead zones that will not be fun. You can use an external program to adjust the dead zones:

All in all, if you have the second wheel I listed, the game engine does not support it so it won't work like a standard wheel with this title (or any title using the Madness engine).
AMS1 doesn't use the Madness Engine.
vJoy will recognize any axis or slider or button of your steering wheel (or ANY other device) and the game's engine will recognise vJoy. no deadzone.
even if your device has deadzone by default you can tune it or erase it with the plugin
